Purple Rain by Prince
Jan 16 2023

one of Price's masterpieces. Not The one (I'm still under Controversy's spell) but close, very close. it's sexy and sleazy, it's musically complex but catchy, it's deep but fun also. Prince truly broke all musical barriers here, demolished all stereotypes and create a truly unforgettable piece of musical history. Best song: Purple rain

Ace of Spades by Motörhead
Jan 18 2023

those reefs are amazing, played with speed and demonic urgency. Lemmy's voice is a rasping scream, while bass and drum pump their rhythms energetically fast. In 1980 this album was probably terrifying and exciting, now, at least to my ears, sounds like the same song played in 12 different ways, rather than 12 different songs. Repetitive is probably the best description of my reaction by the time I have reached song 10, Bite the bullet. still an amazing album. Best song: Ace of Bases

Hejira by Joni Mitchell

i tried, I really tried. This is just not for me.

Jan 20 2023

this is a step too far in respecting the past. country music is culturally associated to the US and it is NOT representative to worldwide music fans. In Europe country music is not only not relevant, but also had no impact on the evolution of music and musical taste. this record doesn't belong in the 1001 albums list.

it lack the energy of his dad's music.

Dirt by Alice In Chains
Jan 24 2023

was never a great fan of Alice in Chains but I must accept and acknowledge them as one of the key ingredients of the amazing grunge wave of the early 90s. This album rocks from the first song, and Jerry Cantrell was in credible singer and songwriter. The guitars are cleaner than Nirvana, closer to the heavy metal bands they proceeded to destroy, but the final product is dirty and grungy as we should expect. This is a great album.

No Other by Gene Clark

surprising. not the genre or an artist i'd be looking out for by myself. but the songs have a mellow attitude and the musical background is warm and interesting.

Infected by The The

too theatrical for my taste. the affected voice also is not interesting.
