Solid, just as good as when I first heard it in 1992. Its got a few tracs that don't measure up but overall pretty good.
I'm not sure how this album ended up on this list. I'm pretty sure I could find a better album not on this list in any used record store in the world. Maybe there's political or historical information I'm lacking that would help change my opinion, but I'm not going to waste any more time on it.
Some exceptional songs with some strange ones sandwiched in. The strange ones aren't exactly bad but I'm not sure I can call them good after the first listen.
Fiona Apple is ok. This isn't my favorite album of hers though
If you like the blues this is probably pretty good. I couldn't get past the third song.
Nice blend of Miles pushing the limits and then holding you softly.
I only know of Kraftwerk from Big Black's cover of The Model and wasn't expecting to like this album as much as I did. The depth and complexities of sound hidden in the repetitive electronic beats is impressive.
Brit pop. not my thing, some catchy songs, a lot of filler.
Not my cup of tea but I did enjoy it more than I expected. I'd give it another half star if I could.
There is nothing, and I mean nothing extraordinary about this album. uninspired Lo-fi indie distortion rock that meanders between annoying and almost good. There are one or two good songs, but the album as a whole I'd pass on.
I like when the Stones go country. Some all time classics on this record.
I used to listen to Selmasongs often and had no idea she was working on another album at the same time. It has similarities to Selmasongs, exploring themes of simplicity but with a quieter more intimate tone.
Billy Bragg has 1 good song and it isn't on this album.
The song Ray of Light is my guilty pleasure, it touches something inside of me that evokes more joy than a song should, especially from a genre one doesn't normally listen to. I hadn't heard the rest of the album before and although it doesn't hold up to the title track the electronic, dance, and ambient beats made for an enjoyable listening experience.
OK, so here it is, the exact moment I realize that this isn't 1001 albums you need to hear before you die but instead some tasteless basement dweller's wet dream of a project. A chance to finally show the world what they're missing. A chance to dust off those CDs you've been carrying around in milk crates from one shitty failed relationship to another. fuck you. this album is another garbage album that someone bought in junior high back in the day when you spent $12 on a CD and of course you're going to listen to it until you like it, you just wasted $12, how could it not be good? it isn't.
wish you were here instead of me
