I didn't realize I didn't l like Michael Stipe's voice that much. Some songs I was okay with, like the most famous song and The One I Love, but other songs it was grating. Overall though I enjoy the instrumental.
sensual, overall nice as background music but not necessarily something I'd listen to with intention save for a few songs. I didn't like the songs with the female vocalist. I heard some Mort Garson vibes for sure
nice vibe, great singing but not my usual cup of tea
I already know and like Common People, interesting to hear the rest of the album. I fuck with it tbh, fun songwriting and great sound. Paints a really vivid picture of a moment in life and time. I can see everything happening like a movie when I listen to these songs.
I enjoyed this a lot, definitely one I'd relisten to. Very touching, intimate lyrics. I really love My Old Man and Little Green, they make me cry but everything about this is exquisite.
A BANGER!!! I love mid-60s Beatles!!
I like some Donovan songs, but not enough to enjoy a whole album of them. There are a few standouts to me, the song about Linda and the song after that, but overall this didn't click for me. Sometimes the way he sings and pronounces things bothers me, it's a strange affectation that takes me out of it a bit. Probably won't be re-listening to this one.
It's pretty, but it does drag on. I would play this in the background while I do things, but I'm not gonna put this on when I wanna listen to music.
It's cool how each song is its own story, but it is a lot of words lol I enjoy listening to these songs but they do start to blend into each other as you get further into the record. It's a lot of fun though!
I don't like this at all. like at all, damn. I enjoy a lot of 80s music, it's one of my favorite decades for music, but this is too 80s somehow. I can't take it seriously at all.
TBH the cover is fire, it kinda rules. This is the kind of 80s rock I don't like, why do all the 80s cock rock vocalists sing the same way? Photograph isn't too bad I can't lie but this isn't something I'd listen to willingly.
I don't think this is as bad as some people say, but the cover of Help sucks. Karen Carpenter has a very beautiful voice.
I didn't go into this with high expectations at all but I was overall pleasantly surprised. I didn't necessarily love the album but it's not bad, I especially like the first song.
Not bad, the standout to me is Cinnamon Girl.
I knew more songs than I thought I did off this album. I legit listen too Smile Like You Mean It all the time, I think it's a banger. If Mr. Brightside wasn't so overplayed it would also be a standout song but I'd be perfectly happy if I never heard it again. Also "I got soul but I'm not a soldier" has always been corny to me. Overall though I do have a soft spot for early 00s post-punk inspired music.
The album cover fucks! Severely! The extent of my knowledge of metal is Enter Sandman tbh so I was pleasantly surprised to discover that this is pretty fuckin sick. Banger after banger, I think I'll add this to my general rotation.
Going into this I only knew the title track, which I've loved for a while. I'm not crazy about Welcome to the Machine, but I enjoyed everything else (to my surprise tbh). The first chunk of Shine On You Crazy Diamond was stronger than the 2nd part in my opinion.
reminds me of high school, I do regularly listen to some songs still
I'm not a neo-soul person at all but I do like Brown Sugar. I enjoy the instrumentals but I don't like the singing that much tbh.
I already listen to Never Let Me Down Again and Behind the Wheel regularly. Some of the other songs are a little too 80s for me tbh
I loved Tainted Love as a kid, but I don't love it as much now. I liked Chips on My Shoulder. Sex Dwarf wasn't too bad, but honestly the whole album isn't too bad. But that's all. Not necessarily good but not too bad.
Another case where the instrumentation itself isn't bad (quite alright actually) but I'm not crazy about the vocals. This is otherwise okay.
I'm not particularly interested in electronic music, this feels repetitive like other reviews say.
I am a post-punk fan so this is right up my alley, an enjoyable listen!
I really liked this! I’m already a casual Sonic Youth fan but I’ve never listened to a full album. Kim Gordon’s vocals are sometimes off putting but I did enjoy it though it was a bit long.
Not for me. I like Dancing in the Dark and Downbound Train but nothing else really. I’m surprised people still don’t understand the lyrics of Born in the USA. I will say that the lyrics are very evocative, I see a whole world in the songs but it’s not a world I want to be a part of.
This was pleasant but I prefer Simon & Garfunkel honestly. Standout for me was Peace Like a River but I hated the first song. The writing was very beautiful.
I've heard a lot about prog rock and Rush over the years, mostly bad, but this was my first time listening to them. And it wasn't bad! Dare I say it was mostly enjoyable! I don't necessarily think that I will re-listen to it but I wouldn't be opposed to hearing it again.
I didn’t like this. Very boring but thankfully it was short.
This was an enjoyable listen! The famous songs on the album are obviously good but I also liked Got A Feelin'. I will say, it feels a bit dated (particularly the In Crowd) but good for what it is.
Going into this I already knew Walk on the Wild Side and Satellite of Love. This is quintessential glam rock which is super fun. It's very apparent that David Bowie produced this. I really liked Makeup and I'm So Free and it also helped me rediscover Satellite of Love.
I knew the hits going into this, Sweet Child O Mine is one of the standouts to me but the songs are too long to me. And some of the lyrics are very lame. I also liked Paradise City and It’s So Easy but this didn’t make me into a GNR fan.
Ella Fitzgerald's voice is actually perfect. Very pretty collection of songs.
