Savane by Ali Farka Touré
Oct 30 2023

I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to sit through all of this since it was definitely out of my normal musical comfort zone but I’m glad I did if for nothing else but the experience. Very enjoyable listen.

In A Silent Way by Miles Davis
Oct 31 2023

I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to sit through all of this since it was definitely out of my normal musical comfort zone but I’m glad I did if for nothing else but the experience. Very enjoyable listen.

Horses by Patti Smith
Nov 01 2023

I was relieved when it was over. There’s talent there but I just didn’t like her chosen singing style. She’s certainly got singing chops but most of the time, she chose a different style with terms I’m sure a trained vocalist would know but I couldn’t stand.

Liquid Swords by GZA
Nov 02 2023

I can appreciate the talent and art, which is something I never would’ve thought myself capable saying about a rap album, but I just don’t care for rap. If I were a fan of the genre, I could see this being great; it’s just not great to me.

Nov 03 2023

I couldn’t even finish it. I tried but this is definitely not my style.

KIWANUKA by Michael Kiwanuka
Nov 04 2023

This was a breath of fresh air compared to some of the last few albums I’ve listened to on this journey. When I started on this path, I was hoping for stuff like this. My musical taste has always been pretty narrow and after ten albums listened, this was the first that I liked that I hadn’t heard before. It won’t be something I listen to frequently but I would absolutely listen to it again.

...And Justice For All by Metallica
Nov 08 2023

I never understood the appeal with Metallica and still don’t. I can’t stand James Hetfield’s “vocals” and even the overall tone of the guitars is too tinny for my taste. There are a few moments where I can hear some appealing music but overall, I’m glad I listened to the entire thing because I had always wondered if my limited exposure to the radio hits just wasn’t painting a full picture but no; I just don’t like them.

Tical by Method Man
Nov 09 2023

I listened to it all and I still just don’t get rap. Some friends and I briefly got into Bone Thugz n Harmony back in the day and a bit of Tupac and I remember digging both of those and some Eminem hits I’ve heard but my hope with this project was it might illuminate something in me that recognizes the draw but that hasn’t happened yet.

Clandestino by Manu Chao
Nov 10 2023

Living in the metro Atlanta area, I can step outside any given day and hear this style of music being played somewhere and sometimes I don’t even have to travel that far. Normally, by the time the sound waves make it my way, I’m just left with an annoyingly repetitive yet loud bass line. I say all that to say that I don’t mind this style of music; I understand a little Spanish but not enough to listen along and understand but I still found it enjoyable given the peace of my own headphones and actually being able to listen and take it in rather than being forced to listen to it from a distance. Not so much that it’ll end up in my playlist but it was a good album for sure.
