1001 Albums Summary

1/? of albums i've heard the one hit wonder and haven't heard any others. i don't absolutely hate it but i don't think it's something i would ever choose to listen to on my own. it's kind of like if male manipulator music was just your brother and cousin and their friends in your garage. the original "midwest emo" blueprint. this is music that probably sounds better and also worse live. like live the quality would be way worse but it would sound intentional. yeah dial up male manipulator music to 11. I like male manipulator music though as long as it's not actually accompanied by male manipulation the leads speaking voice sounds a little bit like Gerard way. or maybe it's the cadence or something this sounds like stuff that if I knew the band members personally, I'd be like "guys this is really good I like it!!" and not be lying but my personal affection for them would be warping my perception. as it is. it's. okay. blister in the sun is fine. there's a few songs where I like the progression or the chorus but then the whine-sing of the verse puts me off. lol.

I hate that you can't do decimals bc this falls around a 3.5 for me but I can't quite justify rounding up. I like it but nothing sticks out to me as like INCREDIBLE or anything

5.22.25 going back through to listen to previous albums and look, shoegaze and this sort of crunchy sound is good cleaning music (what i was doing) or background music, but it's not my fave to just listen to outright.

omg another album i know a single or two off of. okay im sorry Jane but I'm not a HUGE fan of this brand of 80s music. idk if you take offense to that. but it reminds me of my mom and honestly all sort of blends together at a certain point

5.23.25 love this album i know it's, as john mulaney put it, "an album written by and for people cheating on each other" but it sure is a damn fun album

5.23.25 i think i have to listen to this multiple times because bohemian rhapsody and you're my best friend are just SO ubiquitous and then there's songs that i've heard maybe once if at all. i don't want to write it off, because it's an excellent album, but i think it suffers from having one of the most well known songs in the world on it.

i really liked this album! idk how to like, describe it, but it was great for like, walking to class and driving home with the windows down, yknow?

I am by no means a hip hop expert, but I do love the meter and the way they use different audio loops

I mean i knew he had live albums but I guess I'd never particularly thought about that version being on this 1001 albums..... I mean he puts on a damn good performance though

I like a jazz album as much as the next guy

they have better albums tbh but this one is enjoyable. headmasters did it better 🙄 ethically sourced morrissey

look I usually like 90s brit rock but I've been listening to a lot of bbno$ recently so the unironic use of "chewsday" was a little off putting. it's a fine album I think I just wasn't in the mood

look it's such a long album. I listened to most of it. it's solid

it was a cool album to listen to but nothing super stood out to me as a certified banger yknow

it was fun this morning when it was 65 and sunny, very cool main character energy. but then driving home tonight felt like when a character in a movie is having a mental breakdown and the radio clicks on at the worst time to play anticlimactic music
