Its a sunny day and I am in the back garden. Budweiser in hand, proudly sporting my beer belly as I flip a burger on the barbeque. This is what being 40 is all about.
Quite a short album, does not overstay its welcome. Graveyard train has no right to be 8+ minutes though. you could cut that song in half and this album could be one for regular rotation. Keep on chooglin' might also fall into this category but I'll let it slide as its the closing track and it has some ripping solos. Plus I like the word chooglin'. I have no idea what it means but John Fogerty seemed quite insistent that I continue doing it. I'll take his word on it, that word being chooglin'.
things I like:
-Down in a hole
-Dirt
-Hate to feel
-Would?
Things I hate:
-people
-society
-my stupid dad because he didn't buy me an Xbox for my birthday
In all seriousness, this album has some good songs but they are separated by a vast dry desert of dreary and repetitive music. Maybe I'm just not in the right mood to listen to this album today. Actually I hope I am never in the right mood to listen to this album.
At the very least it is listenable, and I did enjoy the second half
+Catchy, good story telling, plus you got the iconic like a rolling stone in here
-every song feels too long and has 10+ verses
Some absolute classics on here like ms jackson and so fresh and so clean, which are the cream of the crop of this album packed with heat. Outkast throws a lot at the wall on here and not all of it sticks, but the ones that do, stick like glue. It is a long album but due to the variety on here it never grows old. Personal favourite tracks were gasoline dreams, bombs over baghdad and humble mumble
"my feet is my only carriage and so, I've got to push on through"
Easy listening and with some classic Bob Marley tunes
I am going to be hearing upstrokes in my sleep thanks to this
I have a whole lotta love for this album, classic rock mixed with some great experimentation. one of those late 60s albums that ushered in the 70s. Its a shame about the band's questionable history with children, and possibly fish?
A really solid album regardless, could be their best if IV didn't feature stairway to heaven. Why they decided they were Elvis for the last 10 seconds of this album I may never understand
Lost three teeth just listening to this. A good sound, very clash-esque. Feels a bit one note after while.
One of those albums that reminds you that you are living in a society. I wish albums would stop doing that to me. Just let me eat my yogurt in peace please.
album starts with 3 iconic U2 songs and then tapers off a bit. Stays thematically consistent throughout, all sounds very U2.
I can understand the appeal of this album, but personally U2 are not for me. Although I do like with or without you.
how can you complain about lauryn hill? well you could complain about her punctuality at live events.
some great songs on here. ready or not, fu-gee-la and of course killing me softly.
Really loved the Bob Marley cover. I cannot escape this song. What an album
I had completely forgotten about the song 'I left my wallet in el Segundo'. A few years ago I listened to this song for the first time and it drove me crazy. Those words haunted my brain constantly, I found myself tapping my pockets to make sure my wallet was still there. I would have nightmares where I would try to buy a sandwich at a motorway service station only to find I had lost my wallet at the last stop. I would often wake up to find I had sleepwalked to the airport and was waiting in the terminal for the next flight to California. now I fear that this curse may be upon me once again.
Other than that, an all time classic
A very long and at times, unhinged album. Full of great songs and experimentation. after listening to this I can understand why that Charles Manson thought John Lennon wanted him to murder people
Some decent songs in here but most of this album felt very slow
Felt like I was watching Buster Scruggs again. a nice experience
The album starts with a lot of fast paced songs and then slows down. I enjoyed both styles and loved Johnny's storytelling throughout.
This album has a great atmosphere thanks to the enthusiastic crowd and Johnny's showmanship throughout. Makes you wish you were in prison that day.
Starts strong with nick of time, which was probably my favourite song off this album
A lot of the songs here feel quite generic, maybe this wasn't the case when the album released but it is hard to say.
I enjoyed this anyways, although it did leave something to be desired. Just like I am now desiring a simple life out in the country
a really fun, Beatle-esque album full of that 60's style. a lot of great songs on here although they do feel very similar to each other. finished with a banger
Lots of great songs on here, manages to stay uplifting despite being metal. Lots of more beautiful quiet moments in there too.
Really good album, I loved the minecraft songs near the end
Beautiful but quite boring. I’d need to be very busy or very stoned to appreciate this fully
I like her voice but most of this album is very slow and doesn't really do anything that interesting. There's some good lyrics but they are wasted seen as you'll probably doze off to the boring compositions before you ever hear them.
I found this album to be quite inspiring, because if this album can reach the top 1000, then anything can. That's not me saying this album is bad, just mediocre.
some really good stuff on here, probably George's best work post Beatles. A lot of the songs on here would not feel out of place on a Beatles album.
with that being said, this album is long in every sense of the word. I felt exhausted after 2 hours when George was in the middle of thanking me for pepperoni. you could easily cut out half of the songs on this album and it would be better off
Buddy had one good idea for a song and somehow made a whole album out of it. Better yet, the idea wasn't even his.
Never heard of this album before listening, what an album! Extremely detailed without feeling overcomplicated. Definitely an album I’ll be coming back to
all feels a bit samey. A nice sound regardless
Had never heard of these guys before this. Despite being called ‘fifth dimension’ its just a pretty average 60s record
Didn't really do anything for me, just a live album
Alright is a banger. The rest of this album is average
Iconic voice, some great songs on here, way ahead of its time
Not listening to this because its a pain in the arse to find.
The man himself
Some cool beats on here. I enjoyed this album although its probably not one i would revisit
Managed to be ahead of its time, which is no easy feat past the year 2000. Some classic songs on here but is a bit unpolished. Damon was still finding his feet with this project at the time, and you can pick up on this when comparing to later albums

Nothing really surprised me here. It was pretty nice though
I don’t know what I was expecting, but it wasn't this. The vocals sound like they could be from recent series of south park. Pretty fun
An easy 5
Mr Blue sky is a classic, the rest of this album is mid
These guys heard the zombies and thought 'what if we do that but with less originality and slightly more annoying accents?'
Never heard of this guy before, was sold before the end of the first track.
This is a really great album and is the kind of stuff I signed up for.
Only complaint is all 4 songs follow a similar structure
Lana Del Rey is fantastic, but this is probably not her best album. feel like its too far gone at this point, sacrificing listenability in order to focus on a specific style. Because of this, its quite boring.
Really liked some parts of this, others not so much
Not really my thing, a bit slow and tiring
How do I even review this? Its one of the greatest albums of all time for a reason. The only thing I could complain about is that when I listened to this today, my headphones started stuttering in the middle of the great gig in the sky. That was a bit annoying.
This is very much an early 90s rap album. If you asked me to imagine an early 90s rap album, I would probably imagine something like this. I like the lead rapper but god that other guy is annoying.
Oh you're a musician? name 5 children you have groomed
if you separate the art from the artist... this is still mid. Why does he sound so much like Randy Marsh? I suppose it makes sense given his character
2 Stars for Racist Elvis
+1 for Chris Cornell, other than that its fairly average for its time
Feels like a mix of Johnny Cash, The Doors, The Zombies, Elvis, The Beach Boys and The Beatles. Seriously, its like each song is by a different artist of this selection. lots of catchy hooks and inventive song writing, although some songs do follow typical 60's rock clichés. I enjoyed this one if you can't already tell.
Favourites were Get It On & I'm Not Your Stepping Stone.
Don't listen to them chatter, you've got to use your own grey matter!
Well at least we know who was responsible for the harmonies in the beach boys
