Definitely 80s - moody, great melodies. I was too young to appreciate this at the time. Definitely influenced The Sundays. Can also see why people find Morrisey insufferable - loves singing about how lonely and unloved he is despite being so smart and good looking. Will go back to listen more
To be fair - boppy lyrics and good rhythm I can see why it was popular at the time. Way to jangly for my preference - I can’t finish the album. Not for me
Although I know Beck has a long discography, I kind of dismissed him as a One hit wonder after hearing Loser 400 million times in college. I really enjoyed this reintroduction. A bit country tinged, very chill. I will def listed more. Love Lost Cause
One of my favorite albums of all time. For me, this is when REM transitioned from college rock to more traditional rock style. The lyrics are all phenomenoal
I don’t listen to jazz very often but this is clearly a masterpiece
Meh, I remember listening to them in the 90s. Handful of really good songs but most of them all sounds the same and are extremely over played

Walk down memory lane, great album! It may sound a bit repetitive now, but I remember at the time it sounded really new and exciting.
I’d only ever heard I wanna be Adored. I liked this one - sounds very Smiths and The Cure influenced with a dash of 60s Brit pop
A classic
Meh - I’m a big fan of this period of hip hop. Started off okay if a bit too close to Public Enemy but got boring quickly
Great lyrics and nice musicality
Overall mid… reggae with a bit of late 90s Trip hop Tricky influences. Some of the more trip hop style songs are pretty good but some are basically Bob Marley impersonation. I wouldn’t mind if this was playing but wouldn’t go out of my way to listen again
Lots of fun synth and new wave and some really great songs. Definitely from the era where albums were half great songs and half filler
I see a lot of people saying it seems repetitive, and I get that. But at the time, this felt like a game changer. So influential in the development of house and dance music
I put this on thinking I might find it juvenile now but it’s really good rock music. Tom Morello is an amazing guitarist and the themes are still pretty spot on
I can see why this album is on the list. Decent rock music and talented musicians but overall it’s kinda boring. I listened about half way through
Yeah this album rocks… how have I never heard this? Sounds completely modern despite being over 40 years old
This was annoying. Most albums on this list that I don’t enjoy, I can at least see why they are there and appreciate the talent. Not this one.. there’s much better folk music from this period
I remember a couple of these from the 90s.. if you don’t take it very seriously (and I don’t think you are meant to) there’s a lot of fun songs here.
I reluctantly really enjoyed this. Fun synth beats and very danceable. I do think you have to remember the 80s because this album feels very much of its time
Meh. A couple good songs- Song 2 was obviously a big hit. You’re So Great is ok. The rest is just boring, noisy and/or annoying. I’m actually surprised Damon became as successful as he is based on this album. Interesting to read that this album represents a sound change for them. Parklife would be a much better album to include on this list
Meh - sounds like the Rolling Stones for me. Not really my taste in music but some of it did sound pretty good and seem talented
I love the different sounds and influences M.I.A. draws from here and makes it sound fresh without being derivative. Bits of it sound a little repetitive here and there but still a great listen even 15 years later
