Run-D.M.C. by Run-D.M.C.

Favs Sucker MCs - Like the flow here Wake Up - Like the piano melody and the wake up voice Good, but not sure I like the old-school hip-hop simplicity. I realize this is a forerunner, but need a little more complexity. I don't know much about Run DMC, but I know they have at least two songs where they mention their love of chicken and collard greens (Christmas in Hollis). I need to try classic collard greens.

1999 by Prince
Jan 11 2024

Fun and goofier than I expected. I knew Prince was a horny little fella, but I didn't expect this much.

Abattoir Blues / The Lyre of Orpheus by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Jan 12 2024

I liked it. Kind of what I expected from Nick Cave. Like a ramshackle circus band or something. Went quickly despite being a double album. Favorites: Get Ready for Love, O Children

Pearl by Janis Joplin
Jan 15 2024

Favs: Cry-Baby Mercedes Benz Get it While You Can Passionate. She really goes for it. Funkier than I expected. Bobby McGee is the famous one, but surprisingly different from the rest of the album.

Station To Station by David Bowie
Jan 16 2024

Favs: Golden Years (I mean, come on) TVC15 (Bowie once again a master of correctly using sax in songs) Good. Surprisingly short. Definitely enjoyed it, but I didn't feel much.

This Is Fats Domino by Fats Domino
Jan 17 2024

Unfortunately about half of the songs are unavailable on Spotify. Really enjoyed, though. Voice and songs can be vastly different. Blueberry hill has verses that I really liked in a style I didn't know about.

Zombie by Fela Kuti
Jan 18 2024

Really enjoyed it. Zombie, especially.

American Idiot by Green Day
Jan 29 2024

Are we the waiting Holiday St. Jimmy Letterbomb Really enjoy it. Maybe I'm basic.

Feast of Wire by Calexico
Feb 01 2024

Favorites: Sunken Waltz Black Heart is beautifully operatic. Like a southwestern Bond theme. Woven birds Guero Canelo Beautiful album.

Feb 02 2024

More prog-rocky than I was expecting. It's fun, but every time it hits a melody I really like, it switches things up on me.

Bat Out Of Hell by Meat Loaf
Feb 05 2024

Man, it's bombastic and operatic. Really enjoy the seriousness with which they take it.

Nick Of Time by Bonnie Raitt
Feb 07 2024

Favs: Have a Heart

Out of Step by Minor Threat
Feb 08 2024

We get it. You're a black sheep.

Smash by The Offspring
Feb 12 2024

Favs: Nitro Genocide Secret song. Been a while. I liked it, but a little samey and grunkier than I like my punk. Still melodic, which I like.

Urban Hymns by The Verve
Feb 13 2024

Lucky Man One Day Secret Track again! Feels very of its time and brit-poppy. I liked the second half better than the first. Okay, though.

What's That Noise? by Coldcut
Feb 14 2024

Smoke dis one I'm wondering if a lot of the stuff I'm hearing that feels passe is the first time some of this stuff was done. Really enjoy the cartoon clips and stuff, but "stop this crazy thing!" has literally become a trope of the genre.
