Let the good times roll, what a fantastic song to start this journey with. A Geeb you juswaddineeded!!! Know this song from pop culture never knew the band name. Maybe it’s just the excitement over this new project but these songs are absolutely hitting. Great first album.
Hard to get used to the seemingly chaotic nature at first. Most musicians have their songs build to the vocals of the chorus for him this is all building to the guitar wherebye he expresses himself. Voodoo Chile giving ultra blues vibe, seemingly no structure but it works. Found I was losing interest after the first few songs and the album slows down for the last bit. Can definitely respect his talent as potentially the greatest guitarist of all time but the music as a whole just not for me… ok the final three tracks bring it back for me also listening with headphones instead of car speaker make a huge difference with it being stereo. Was teetering on a 2/5 because the middle really lost me but the end saved it. Also feel like listening will stoned and chilled out probably would improve the experience not while stressed mid day and travelling to and from Costco.
Well this is different. It’s surprisingly funky, the guitar and beat is great, getting used to the vocal and different language. Track 2 slappin. I wish I knew what they were saying. Feels like blue grassy. Hearing their vocals contrast with the “western” sound is trippy. As the album goes on I’m starting to get distracted though and the lure of these clashing sounds is getting old unfortunately. Lots of respect for this group especially given what they’ve gone through in their lives and they are very talented but for my personal preference just not my cup of tea.
See right away this is why I wasn’t as thrilled with Hendrix…. This has everything, crazy drums, sick base line, guitar that is arguably as good (I know it’s all about context but just listening to it today it’s so much more engaging).such a strong start to a concert with this being a live album. Just ready to fucking party. Then they let you breathe with track 2 and the vocals are shining, I’m a sucker for a good falsetto. The Mule—-that drum solo holy shit. Ok last track kinda lost me with all the reverb… still what a great show it would have been. Nicole messaged me asking wtf I was listening to at that part haha
Haven’t been able to write as listening but super easy to listen to. Man knows his way around a ‘Monica. First time really sitting down listening to him, what a fantastic story teller. Does kind of feel a bit repetitive in the cadence of his singing and the guitar but none the less very cool to listen to.
Starts off with an instant classic. Even Finley couldn’t deny the grooviness in that beat she instantly became a disco queen bouncing all over the place. When I heard it I just wanted to spit rap over it. I will say it will be hard not to compare this album to the only other disco group I know… my feet keep dancing may have said the same line more in a song than I’ve ever heard but I loved every minute. Groovy album
Sick day. Still managed to listen to it. First few tracks had me bored. Wooden ships has a nice guitar solo that feels like it brings more life into the album. Helplessly Hoping is a sweet song. Second half better but still just not a super engaging album
This is the worst thing I’ve ever listened to. Why is it here? Why does it exist? It made me want to drive into a ditch hearing it. This album should not be allowed to exist.
Really like the start of this album. Driving with the mountains in the background was super cool and almost trancy in a way. Very much enjoyed listening to something so new, kinda was charming not being able to know what they’ve been saying. end kinda lost me but wasn’t paying as close attention, feel like this album requires that. Overall, cool new experience
First album where I felt like I knew multiple songs going in. The three classics really hit. I feel like the rest is a bit sup par. Don’t look back in anger hits special cause of the rock band days just nailing the vocals. Hard to give it a 3 with the nostalgia so a 4 it is
Just a classic incredible album
Feel like for a Beatles album this was pretty lame. Just all kinda melted together no real stand outs even yellow submarine in the midst of this album is boring
Just so much respect for this album and this artist. So smooth and the instrumentals that accompany him are so grand
Masterpiece
Easy listening on a rainy day didn’t really blow me away though. The hallelujah cover was nice but I feel every version of that song hits
Not my favorite Kanye but gotta respect the bangers
Never has an artist captured the sound of a setting like Bob Marley. I swear listening on a cold rainy day actually warms me up. Such positivity and optimism in his music.
Crazy how much of a message these guys had and how powerful their music was and then flavor flave went on reality tv to do flavor of love lol
