Geez I wish I liked metal music. I can appreciate the technical skill involved in making something to complex and specific, as well as the emotional resonance an album like this could make an angsty listener feel. However, it it just sounds like chaos to me. The muddy sound of the grunge guitar, the aggressive tones, the intense strobing & constant crash of the drums, and the raspy vocals make me want to do nothing more than turn it off and enjoy the absence of being acoustically attacked.
Fuck yeah. Easy buttery atmospheric jazzy early synthy electronica. They keep their melodies groovy and cohesive and tight, which i's appreciates.
I like that this album is a tidy soundscape package - all songs have the a similar color & mood that makes me believe they belong together.
This far from my favorite Doors album. This record stays firmly in "The Doors Sound" with a compelling organ focus and a boozy rock sound. However it all sounds a bit far from what makes the Doors great. With the exception of the standout Roadhouse Blues, Morrison sounds more restrained, and the music feels a bit too influenced by other bands. In some ways this is very cool, to hear The Door's spin on the Beach Boys and the Beatles. But this album is a bit too jazzy, and a bit too much of a stretch from the quintessential sound the Doors became known for in their freshman self-titled record.
Abraxas is a fuckin VIBE. Really cool to hear the synthesis of a few different cultures - latin beats & melodies combined with classic american rock. Santana shreds a bit too hard for my taste in the later part of the album, but Black Magic Woman & Oye Como Va are what make this album special.
Iconic. Second only to Thriller in its pure, unadulterated Poppiness.
This is undoubtedly a good album, however yesterday was just NOT a Led Zeppelin day, so I skipped it. Too much chaos. They fuckin rock tho
I appreciate this album for its place history. Fugees were made up of all-stars, and their sound lead the groundwork for a panoply of new genres. Not what i'd put on normally, but good for my education.
Chaos is my enemy in music, however this album is unique enough to allow me to see through the clouds. I'm quite impressed with the texture and complexity of the sound. Animal Collective has garnered an excellent reputation amongst my friends so I was happy at the chance to give them another shot. I can appreciate its beauty, but it still is not an album i'll be reaching for anytime soon.
