Ok I guess - not something I'd normally have listened to - but there again I'm not really the target audience... Overall not bad, not good, just different to my normal listen. A solid 3/5
Not a band I recall being aware of. Quite good and a couple of the songs felt familiar so either I *hav*e heard some of it before - without being aware of the band (no pun intended) - or they have been covered by others. Would happily listen to again.
Really, really like this album. Have owned it on CD since it was released. Some cracking songs - 'Do you realise?' is one of my all time favourites.
Not my type of thing. Obviously I know Riders on the Storm which is ok (possibly because of familiarity?) but the rest just sounded / felt like 'music to get stoned to' which isn't what I do so it's a "no" from me...
To me it all sounded the same. There was one song that I thought was ok - but not worth my time / effort to find out which one. I never got the whole Nirvana 'grunge' thing at the time (in my opinion all the songs sounded almost exactly the same) and this was, to my ears, just a slightly heavier version of the grunge sound. Good work on Grohl for doing it all himself - I'm just not a fan.
I'm sure there's nothing intrinsically wrong with this album - it's just that it's not really my preferred genre. I like a wide range of music / musical styles. This album seemed to have elements of a number of styles - some.of which I like - but just not enough to make it interesting or worth going back to / favouriting (for me)... Maybe it's not aimed at me / I'm too middle aged / white / stuck in my ways - but at least I've listened to it...
Hmmm... Loved this album when it came out. Not listened to it for ages... Listening to it again I was not as enamoured. I guess because it's no longer as 'fresh' / I've got older... It's not bad, just didn't register as mind-blowing on a re-listen. Still a solid four though.
Interesting. Knew a couple of tracks. Quite liked it, but probably won't rush to buy / download. Solid middle of the road...
I know this album is brilliant - in my opinion at least. Just gutted that, for some reason (because usual Bill Drummond / Jimmy Cauty / KLF shenanigans? Copyright issues? Who knows*? 🤷🏻♂️), the link to play it on Spotify, basically goes to a dead link... It brings up the standard Spotify album, track listing image etc, which lets you press play, and indeed acts like it's playing - apart from the fact the track doesn't come up at the bottom of the screen - but absolutely nothing happens... The full, original album doesn't even show under the KLF artist listing. Anyway, the Director's Cut of the album that *is* listed under the KLF albums, and, more importantly, is working on Spotify is similar but not, imho, as good as the original... Glad I was able to play my original vinyl for a trip down memory lane... I was never a raver (too square, didn't have the right friends etc.) but I like a bit of this kind of music... Somehow for me it just hits the spot... Brilliant... ...if you like this kind of thing. *Someone clearly...
I can see how, at the time, it might have been seen as 'cutting edge' but now...? Nope. Not a track on the album that struck any kind of chord with me. I try to listen to these albums at least twice... I could barely manage once with this one - it did nothing for me at all.
Second consecutive day of Talking Heads. Still not a fan. Didn't finish listening. Yes, this album has 'Once in a Lifetime' which I know (but is not a favourite) but the rest was just... No. Not my thing.
Great album (if you like that kind of stuff) with some classics as well as some stuff I hadn't heard before...
While I know some of the songs (the singles?) - Yellow, Trouble, Don't Panic - the rest haven't struck me as being particularly memorable. They are fine, and I know Coldplay are popular, but aside from the songs I know, the album is - to my taste - a bit 'meh'...
As the title says it's soul - not one of my usual 'go-to' genres - but pleasant enough. Not good, not bad imho.
Pleasant enough. Showing its age slightly(!) in some less than "aware" lyrics... Only song I knew was Maggie May (another song with a slightly 'iffy' theme...)...
The Wikipedia page for this band (currently at least) says: "Fishbone is an American rock band from Los Angeles, California. Formed in 1979, the band plays a fusion of ska, punk, funk, metal, reggae, and soul. AllMusic has described the group as _"one of the most distinctive and eclectic alternative rock bands of the late '80s. With their hyperactive, self-conscious diversity, goofy sense of humor, and sharp social commentary, the group gained a sizable cult following"_." This is a pretty fair summary... A real eclectic mix of sounds / styles - not necessarily my normal taste, but not unpleasant.
Ok album. Knew a number of the songs. A good listen...
I knew and liked Sexy Boy but the rest of the album was new to me - and I really quite liked it... Some chilled / ambienty vibes...
Quite liked this. Will look into finding more LC stuff...
Not a fan. I know Solsbury Hill (who doesn't?) which is ok (it's actually on my Spotify Liked Songs) - but nothing on the rest of the album made me take note... Personally I found it boring...
Knew - and liked - the title track (ofc!). Rest wasn't too bad - might go back to in the future...
Sweary. Violent. Not something I'd normally listen to. Am sure there's something deeper but I'm not sure what it is... 🤷🏻♂️
Love this album....
I like some Lou Reed albums (Transformer is (imho) good and New York is brilliant. This one however was a bit...er... 'odd' and not really to my taste - at least on the first couple of listens... Maybe if I re-visit it'll improve - but, tbh, I'm not sure I'm going to...
Ok I guess - if you like that kind of thing. Never really listened to any reggae. Got bored before the end - though did recognise a couple of songs.
Only know one song by the Boo Radleys - Wake up Boo - and it's not on this album. The underlying 'sound' of this album is 90s Britpop/Indie - with elements of other influences including the Beatles. Not a bad album but no songs really 'hooked me'
