Jun 13 2024

Old school goodness. Mind wasn’t blown but think it would’ve been better if I heard it 60 years ago. I think it would get better with more listens.

Aja by Steely Dan
Jun 14 2024

Been a fan of this album for a long time. Hard to fault it - almost perfect but I think it’s possibly a little bit too short.

Young Americans by David Bowie
Jun 15 2024

First Bowie album I’ve heard so nothing to compare it to. I really like the band’s groove and every song had something to offer. Fame is a great climax to the album and if only it had a few other real bangers this would be almost perfect.

Ritual De Lo Habitual by Jane's Addiction
Jun 16 2024

Quite unique band and album. Probably warrants a few more listens and possibly with time an extra star. Three days is an epic on its own. 3.5 stars

Heroes by David Bowie
Jun 17 2024

2 Bowie albums in now. This is very different from Young Americans. Few good songs and then quite epic instrumentals. Surely not his best work but does leave me wanting to hear more. 3.5 stars

Highway 61 Revisited by Bob Dylan
Jun 18 2024

This bloke released some albums. I think if he had have focused on less output but higher quality he would’ve released something much better. Highway 61 is a decent album nonetheless.

Bongo Rock by Incredible Bongo Band
Jun 19 2024

Incredible bongo band

Antichrist Superstar by Marilyn Manson
Jun 20 2024

Idk if it was the breast implants or him getting ribs removed to suck himself but I never wanted to listen to him when I was younger. Not the greatest album but it’s decent enough industrial metal with plenty of emotion

A Love Supreme by John Coltrane
Jun 22 2024

This sounds like they put a bunch of talented musicians in a room and said just rip it. Hopefully one day I’ll understand it more. 2.5 stars for musicianship

Slanted And Enchanted by Pavement
Jun 23 2024

Never really listened to this band but love 90’s and some indie/alt rock. Was like a breath of fresh air after listening to a run of serious albums. Not sure if this an essential album but still good nonetheless. Will be listening again.

Legalize It by Peter Tosh
Jun 24 2024

Blaze up da weed

Seventeen Seconds by The Cure
Jun 25 2024

Good bass. Decent songs. Would listen again.

Pink Flag by Wire
Jun 26 2024

Never even heard of this band. Fun times and very influential.

This Year's Model by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Jun 27 2024

Was not expecting to like this as much as I did. Great band! Cool album! 3.5stars

Jun 29 2024

Have to be in the mood for this one but it is hard not to acknowledge its greatness. 5 stars if I was on the psychedelics.

Kollaps by Einstürzende Neubauten
Jun 30 2024

Does sound like Hitler and his boys hitting the local hardware store. Could see it working as music for a film or something. Not very enjoyable but 2 stars for uniqueness.

Natty Dread by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Jul 01 2024

Only ever listened to the hits before. Album is great. Bob is the reggae master.

Deep Purple In Rock by Deep Purple
Jul 02 2024

Better than I was expecting. Solid album. Rock hard.

OK Computer by Radiohead
Jul 04 2024

Band is awesome and the album has an amazing sound. Have only listened to it a few times now but this could be 5 star material. 4.5 stars for now

The Wildest! by Louis Prima
Jul 06 2024

Probably the oldest album I’ve heard so far and the wildest! Very good for someone who’s just a gigolo.

The Gilded Palace Of Sin by The Flying Burrito Brothers
Jul 07 2024

A band I’ve never heard of. Not mind blowing but not bad either. Decent enough that I would give it another listen

Foxbase Alpha by Saint Etienne
Jul 08 2024

Maybe not an essential album but still very cool. Like the use of samples and cool bass lines. Would listen again!

The ArchAndroid by Janelle Monáe
Jul 09 2024

Glad to see some Janelle Monae on this list. At first glance you wouldn’t expect this to be so good. This has it all. Packed with talent and musicianship! Deserves more listens to give it a faithful review. For now 4ish stars

The Boatman's Call by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds
Jul 10 2024

Would normally prefer more upbeat music with more going on. This was still good tho

The Doors by The Doors
Jul 11 2024

Some old influential music. Not bad at all and glad to have listened to it.

Transformer by Lou Reed
Jul 12 2024

When I seen Lou Reed come up had very low expectations. Was pleasantly surprised. Quite modern sounding album.

Tapestry by Carole King
Jul 13 2024

Really liked this album. It’s not all bangers but I’ve been giving out a lot of 3 star reviews so I’m giving this one 4.

Exile On Main Street by The Rolling Stones
Jul 17 2024

Having not heard this before my expectations were high. Unfortunately it fell short. Decent album tho and may give it another chance but just thought it was going to do more for me

Back to Basics by Christina Aguilera
Jul 18 2024

She is more talented than I was expecting. Good singer and album

Doolittle by Pixies
Jul 24 2024

4 stars after one listen

Paranoid by Black Sabbath
Jul 26 2024

Have always liked Sabbath without ever being a huge fan. First album I’ve heard in it’s entirety and it proves how amazing they are

Triangle by The Beau Brummels
Jul 28 2024

Still a decent listen 60 years on

Rejoicing In The Hands by Devendra Banhart
Jul 29 2024

Maybe 2 stars isn’t fair but that’s all I could give it after a single listen. It wasn’t overly bad just didn’t do much for me.

Court And Spark by Joni Mitchell
Jul 30 2024

There’s no denying that this is good music!

Architecture And Morality by Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark
Jul 31 2024

Was a bit wowed by this at first. Good listen but not sure I really loved it in it’s entirety

I seen this and thought who tf is Terence Trent D’arby. And then I was asking myself the same question when Sananda Maitreya came up. This dude can sing and it’s really good music. Will be on rotation for a while

xx by The xx
Aug 03 2024

I really like this album. Usually prefer more to my music but the space and the male and female combo work so well. Would give it 5 stars but does get a tad boring towards the end

Berlin by Lou Reed
Aug 04 2024

I gave Transformer 3 star when it deserved more. Will give this one the benefit of the doubt

American Gothic by David Ackles
Aug 05 2024

This is quite a well done album. However isn’t my thing and have no desire to listen to it again

Madman Across The Water by Elton John
Aug 06 2024

I would’ve once said eww but this is actually really good music all round. 3.5 stars

Ill Communication by Beastie Boys
Aug 07 2024

Took me a few listens to get my head around it. This is much more than just a rap album

Aug 08 2024

Didn’t hate this as much as I thought I would. Decent band. Just bit boring for me

Aug 09 2024

Second jazz album I’ve listened to from this list(and my entire life). Hard for me to rate but I thought this one was a bit better.

Illmatic by Nas
Aug 18 2024

There’s a few great rap albums out there and this is one of them!

Clandestino by Manu Chao
Aug 19 2024

The language barrier makes this a little tricky to rate. That aside it is a solid album with a cool vibe.

Nilsson Schmilsson by Harry Nilsson
Aug 20 2024

Expected this to be a joke but it’s seriously good!

Arc Of A Diver by Steve Winwood
Aug 21 2024

He’s a talented dude. Really enjoyed this!

Heroes to Zeros by The Beta Band
Aug 22 2024

This is a bit of a mix of vintage, modern and futuristic sounds. It’s good but could’ve been better!

Palo Congo by Sabu
Aug 29 2024

Was torn between giving it 2 or 3 stars. It’s nearly 70yr old and does have a good vibe to it so I think it deserves the 3.

Black Metal by Venom
Sep 01 2024

Old school raw metal. Good stuff!

She's So Unusual by Cyndi Lauper
Sep 11 2024

Good stuff! There will be occasions when I go back to this.

1999 by Prince
Sep 14 2024

I like Prince and this album is good. However some of the compositions are a bit long. Other than the hits can’t see myself really good back to this often.
