Green by R.E.M.
Oct 21 2024

For me, this album was ok. It’s good, but not anything I would seek out on repeat. There is some nostalgia to it as Stand and Orange Crush were popular in my teen years, but even then this was not music that really spoke to me. That remains true today. Nothing turns me off about it, but nothing really draws me in either.

Led Zeppelin II by Led Zeppelin
Oct 22 2024

This has always been one of my favorite Zepplin albums, though I haven’t listened to it in its entirety in a long time. A beautiful balance of classic rock and psychedelic jams , this albums tells the tale of the times. Every song hits the mark, making me wish I could’ve experienced Led Zeppelin live.

Highway 61 Revisited by Bob Dylan
Oct 23 2024

I was introduced to Bob Dylan as a kid by my Uncle. I have so many fond memories of him playing guitar and singing Dylan tunes. While many loathe his vocal abilities, his sound transports me back to the times of listening to my uncle sing and play. Highway 61 is truly a classic with its bluesy-rock sound that accompanies Dylan’s lyrical genius. This album sucks me in and holds tight from the first mote to the last. A definite 5/5 for me.

Oct 24 2024

While I’ve heard Aretha’s most well known songs, I’ve never sat and listened to one of her albums all the way through. What was I thinking? This album was amazing. There’s a reason Aretha is the Queen. Her vocals are impeccable and the emotion and connection she draws with the listener is everything I want in music. This album felt like a Saturday night in front of the fire with a glass of good wine. 5/5 for me.

Funeral by Arcade Fire
Oct 25 2024

This is a no for me. Nothing interesting or that would choose to listen to again.

Tea for the Tillerman by Cat Stevens
Oct 26 2024

A perfectly pleasant album that I really enjoyed listen to. Nothing blew me away, but nothing turned me off either. I love the storytelling aspect of the lyrics, and the melodic sounds. It feels like a good background album while getting stuff done.

Madman Across The Water by Elton John
Oct 27 2024

I love Elton John, but this album just wasn’t it for me. Beyond Tiny Dancer by and Levon, this album was a total mess. i’m giving two stars only because of the first two tracks.

Scum by Napalm Death
Oct 28 2024

Yea, this was awful. While like good hard rock/metal, this wasn’t it. Every guitar rig sounded the same, then we bang on the drums really hard and dude screams words (I think). I’m sure it is loved by someone out there. But not me.

Oct 29 2024

I don't know if this is Bob Dylan's best, but it certainly is up there. Amazing lyrics that speak to the social and political tensions of the time, and in many ways speak to the same tensions of today. Blowin', and Hard Rain are so powerful lyrically, and combined with the simplicity of the acoustic guitar harmonica create make these incredibly powerful songs. Don't think twice is truly one of my all time favorite songs. Not lost on me is the nostalgia of listening to my Uncle Ron strum and sings these tunes at the forest preserve, in the driveway, in the living room. Some of my most treasure memories. This is a 5/5 and a must listen.

Oct 30 2024

Every track sounds the same, and reminds me of the track from some 60's B-movie. The vocals seem so uninspired, as though he's being forced to perform as some sort of punishment. It reminds me of a teenage garage band where some pimple face pre pubescent kid learned how to play a riff at his first lesson and decided to start a band. Only less enthusiastic.

Low by David Bowie
Oct 31 2024

To me David Bowie has always been Jareth, The Goblin King. Beyond Labyrinth and his few radio hits, I've done little digging into his discography. While this is not my preferred genre of music, I found myself really enjoying it by about the fourth track and looking forward to what came next. It was interesting, and the album as a whole has a good flow to it. The true artistry and experimentation with sound shines through, reminding me in some ways of the "space" portion of a Dead show, conjuring up psychedelic images in my mind, and kind of making me wish I had some mushrooms to accompany the adventure Bowie is taking the listen on. Solid 4/5

The Renaissance by Q-Tip
Nov 01 2024

Admittedly, not my preferred genre of music, so it would have to be something really unique and special to draw me in. This was neither. It was ok. Nothing that offended the ear, but not one thing I really enjoyed about it. 2/5

Ten by Pearl Jam
Nov 02 2024

This is it. THIS is the album. This led me from the 80's into the 90's, and began my love of Eddie Vedder. I have heard this album so many times and still enjoy it straight through. No skips. Solid 5/5....it doesn't get Eddie Vedder than this.

Queen Of Denmark by John Grant
Nov 03 2024

Ehhh, it's ok. Not anything that I would choose to listen to again, but nothing that offended the ear. Just not my style to be honest.

Live At The Star Club, Hamburg by Jerry Lee Lewis
Nov 05 2024

The music is good, the energy is great, I know all of the songs, but its Jerry Lee Lewis. Knowing he was such a shitty human definitely detracts from the overall enjoyment of his music.

Surrealistic Pillow by Jefferson Airplane
Nov 06 2024

Great album stylistically. Perfect representation of the late 60's sound. Makes me want to turn on, tune in, and drop out. The hits off of this one are total classics, and while a couple of the other tracks lost my interest a bit, overall it made me long for the days of dropping acid and sitting in a room with black lights on. Solid 4/5

Hounds Of Love by Kate Bush
Nov 08 2024

Not truly a style of music that I gravitate toward, but it was certainly interesting none the less. Lyrics feel more like a story, and at times the music felt muddled and overwhelmed my brain. Mother stands for Comfort honestly made me long for the end, but Under Ice and Waking the witch certainly drew me in, feeling more like a production. Probably not something I would reach for repeatedly, but certainly something I would indulge in again. 3/5

Daydream Nation by Sonic Youth
Nov 10 2024

I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it. Some of it seemed like muddle noise. I think Sonic Youth has some decent albums, this just isn't one of them.

The Yes Album by Yes
Nov 12 2024

I've never really considered listening to a Yes album start to finish. To be honest, I never really considered them much at all. But this was a pleasant little surprise. I really enjoyed it a lot. I know some are turned off by the length of the songs, but as a jam band fan, I love the longer songs with the pure instrumental interludes. Will definitely go into regular rotation. 4/5

American Pie by Don McLean
Nov 13 2024

Beautiful, chill album.

Nebraska by Bruce Springsteen
Nov 17 2024
The Bends by Radiohead
Nov 19 2024

not for me.

Figure 8 by Elliott Smith
Nov 20 2024

This is not an artist I was familiar with and was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed the album.

Pink Flag by Wire
Nov 21 2024

Another artist I have not really ever listened to, but rather enjoyed. Loud, fast and somewhat angsty feeling....reminiscent of my teenage years. Definitely worth another listen.
