Sufjan Stevens
Incredible album. So creative. So much depth and breadth. Has some of every emotion and every instrument. Harmonies. Great lyrical storytelling. Great listening on my new headphones. Many memories of Prairie Bible College, and lonely, cold, late nights. Before I was out to myself or my family I was in love with this album. I played it for my mom once, and all I can remember her saying is, “this sounds very gay,” hahahaha

Surprising amount of 90’s hip-hop influence, and some Latin, little country. Never really cared for his voice, but I respect this album.

Fun and full of energy. Not super familiar with the genre, so songs feel repetitive and they all start to sound the same.

Excellent live recording. I really felt like I was there and that I was getting to know a relaxed, friendly Cash, that made it his mission to minister to the forgotten in prison. The songs are good writing with a signature style.

The Mamas & The Papas
Good harmonies, but otherwise a one hit wonder. I like my California beach pop rock to be happy, and most of these lyrics are a downer.

Not hard to listen to, but not memorable either.

A delightful surprise! Never even heard of these guys before. Definitely hear the seeds of British punk that came after. Stupid 70’s lyrics, but the music is great and the guys can play their instruments. Organ and synth solos! Lots of instrumentals. Like the Doors, but better.

Some fun sounds. Like an edgier Beetles.
