London Calling by The Clash
Jan 14 2025

A landmark in punk rock and one of the statement pieces of 70s rock as a whole. The Clash's fusion of numerous genres creates an almost maximalist soundscape without feeling overbearing as well as getting their messages across which still ring true today such as how rampant consumerism is used as a mode of controlling the general population devoid of their own thoughts and personality in 'Lost in the Supermarket' which is a highlight in this album filling to the brim with highlights. Most definitely an album that should be on your must listen list.

You could probably teach an entire college class solely on this album alone. Although this is still Nirvana at its core, it's almost if they were on the verge of a new era of sound. Of course, we all know in the aftermath just 4 months after the recording that we would never be blessed with that new sound with the death of Cobain. Nevertheless, this live album should be seen as an uncanny glimpse into the last moments of Nirvana and what could have been in another life.

Hot Buttered Soul by Isaac Hayes
Jan 24 2025

Only 4 tracks total yet what this album lacks in quantity, it absolutely makes up in quality. Each track feels like a journey and as a whole. A landmark album for soul and it's influence is seen in the sheer amount of samples that come from these 4 tracks

If purgatory was an album, honestly was kind of a drag to get through
