Rubber Soul
BeatlesA classic banger! However some of the song lyrics do NOT hold up well 😂

Not my usual listen but super dope soul with excellent musicianship.
Not for me. All the songs sounded the same.
A BANGERRRRE! Love New Order. Elegia best track on this one 👌👌👌
How did a not know about an all girl punk band from the early 80s from LA?! Madness. Loved it!!
Here’s the thing; I appreciate Andre3000 was a big deal in hip hop and he changed things in a big way, but this music just isn’t for me. I don’t think Andre had white women in their 30s in mind when he made this, and that’s okay! I like his Jazz flute stuff better.
OOOSH! A banger. Love this one and used to spin it all the time when I was a teenager.
Yooo this album is really good. Bit mad they’re from Leeds and I’ve never heard them. Looks like they didn’t blow up massive but still. Love the heavier indie rock sensibilities mixed with the electronica/computer esq beeps and boops. Very cool album. I enjoy 💻
Ahahahaha I don’t need to listen to this again. This album altered my brain chemistry when I was 13 years old. It can have the 5 stars. 😂
I don’t mind a bit of talking heads every now and then but they don’t blow me away. This one was fun and funky, but I don’t think I’d go out of my way to put it on again and listen. Ether way, inoffensive and a fun morning listen!
Listened: 4/02/2025 Album no: 12 % rating: 76% Fave Song: Respect/My Girl/satisfaction Otis Reading is so fucking smooth GOD DAMN. The guitar tones on this album are stunning too, always blows my mind that guitars were sounding THAT GOOD back in the 60s. Madness. Banger after banger, a quality listen for an easy morning.
Listened: 4/02/2025 Album no: 13 % rating: 57% Fave Song: Fun, but wouldn’t go out of my way to put it on again.
Listened: 5/02/2025 Album no: 14 % rating: 68% Fave Song: Building Steam with a Grain of Salt This is not what I think of when I think of Hip Hop. I feel like I have an avenue into this through British dance music and EDM so it makes more sense to me than “traditional hip hop” (what ever that might be?). This feels simultaneously very 90s but also very modern, it’s aged really well. It is giving low key Matrix vibes though haha. This is still a tough listen for me, but the challenge on this one is very welcome. I definitely like it, but I don’t think I could be a passive listener of this just yet. It’s taxing my noodle, but in a good way! I can imagine if I stick with this one it will grow on me more.
Listened: 6/02/2025 Album no: 15 % rating: 33% Fave Song: blister in the sun Listening to men sing about women is so fucking exhausting; like pick literally any other subject to sing about. Jfc. Ended up skipping a bunch of the latter tracks because they sound insufferable.
Listened: 7/02/2025 Album no: 16 % rating: 69% Fave Song: All Night Long AC/DC are one of them bands that I’ve listened to loads, but never actually sat down and put an album on. Absolutely fantastic classic rock, great guitars, phenomenal tone, banger riffs. Just all round a lot of fun. Great to listen to this one.
Listened: 10/02/2025 Album no: 17 % rating: 73% Fave Song: Track B - Duet Solo Dancers Absolutely classic jazz. Wonderful to hear. There’s a trumpet on track two that literally sounds like someone singing. Wild and fabulous. Also kinda reminds me of old Disney movies at points. I put this on while I was working and I initially thought there would be too much going on to concentrate, but the opposite happened. I got on with a lot of stuff. Love that. Yeah really enjoyed this!
Listened: 11/02/2025 Album no: 18 % rating: 54% Fave Song: Well well well. I‘d managed to avoid listening to Husker Du for years but here we are 😂 These guys walked so bands like Hot Water Music could run. And while I appreciate that this is some early origins of that, this just ain’t for me. I do like how the lyrics are more telling a story, and some of the guitar riffs are super fun with some big breathy chords. I’d have listened to these 15 years ago I’d have loved them, but in 2025 I’ve moved on.
Listened: 12/02/2025 Album no: 19 % rating: 69% Fave Song: Stan A banger album I listened to LOADS in my youth. Some of this obviously hasn’t aged well but absolutely no one would be surprised at that, some of it has aged well however and sonically it is sounds great. Stan is still such a banger all these years later. Great to return to this one!
Listened: 13/02/2025 Album no: 20 % rating: 23% Fave Song: BRITPOP RLLY NOT MAH FING BRO. GOT 3 TRACKS INTO DIS AND TURNED IT OFF. Maybe I’ll try again down the line but yeah, really not for me even if they are from Wigan.
Listened: 21/02/2025 Album no: 22 % rating: 69% Fave Song: Suspicious Minds Love Elvis. Always been a fan. Enjoyed this one, really well produced which for some reason surprised me but it definitely shouldn’t have.
Listened: 24/02/2025 Album no: 25 % rating: 85% Fave Song: Wake Up. Yo this album is straight fire. The riffs are so fucking unreal. So PHAT. PHAT RIFFS. WAKE UP FROM THE MATRIX SOUNDTRACKKKKKKKK DAMNNNN I FORGOT ABOUT THIS TUNE. ABSOLUTELY MASSIVE! FUCKKK I ALWAYS FORGOT RAGE IS TOM MORELLO ON GUITAR. I ALWAYS THINK OF HIS SOLO STUFF. FUCKK YEAAAA HE SHREDS SO MUCHHH 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘 Alright this album goes so hard. Why have I never listened to it before? I’ve obviously heard the big Rage hits before, and I used to fuck with Morellos guitar playing back in the day when I was learning, so why did I never think to listen to this? Madness. Anyway, this goes so fuckin hard, and absolutely will not be my last listen. I love how it did a sick af job of taking a lot of what hip hop/rap was doing throughout the 80s with lyrical content, Melodies, and PHAT funky bass riffs and shook up the formula with some sick guitars and aggression. Loved it. What a stellar album.
Listened: 21/02/2025 Album no: 21 % rating: 78% Fave Song: Desolation Rown Absolutely love Bob Dylan, and love this album. Not my first time listening and definitely won’t be my last. Dylan was a big inspiration for me getting on the road with my guitar and playing gigs when I was younger. Great stuff. Love this.
Listened: 21/02/2025 Album no: 23 % rating: 67% Fave Song: Secrets Never heard of Bobby Womack so this is all new to me! Super funky, bluesy vibes. Really enjoyed my first listen. I don’t think I’d revisit it but still really enjoyed my listen.
Listened: 24/02/2025 Album no: 27 % rating: 78% Fave Song: A Black Man’s Cry One tight as fuck live band holy crap.
Listened: 24/02/2025 Album no: 24 % rating: 69% Fave Song: Sex Machine Not my first Sly and the family stone experience and it won’t be my last. Lots of funky bangers on this one which is a nice welcome change. I can also imagine that this band were quite controversial back in the day, but love that for them. The instrument on Sex Machine sounded like someone scatting which was super cool. Yeah, enjoyed!
Listened: 24/02/2025 Album no: 26 % rating: 81% Fave Song: Anarchy in the UK I listened to this album so much as a teenager. My mum even bought me tickets to see them when Johnny Rotten was still singing for them. Tbh I would love to go see them with Frank Carter I bet he’s a great fit, Rotten can get in the fuckin bin these days. This album still slaps all these years later. Great to revisit it!
Listened: 25/02/2025 Album no: 27 % rating: 68% Fave Song: Take On Me Obv I’ve heard take on me before but never listened at any other a-ha songs. I can definitely see why this was one of the biggest albums of the 80s. It’s good! Not one I’d be in a hurry to stick on again but enjoyed it nonetheless.
Listened: 26/02/2025 Album no: 29 % rating: 75% Fave Song: Genesis Looking at the album cover/band name I had no idea who they were but I have 100% heard that first track before. It fucking slaps. This was a total pleasant surprise. Didn’t expect heavy electronica but I’m here for it! Added bonus they’re playing at Electric castle this year and we’re bloody going so I’m gunna get to see them live! Absolute vibes. Love that.
Listened: 06/03/2025 Album no: 30 % rating: 43% Fave song: Not for me. Had its moments where it went a little Radiohead but yeah, turned it off half way though.
Listened: 06/03/2025 Album no: 31 % rating: 42% Fave song: Listened to a few tracks but not for me. Also low key this list should be studio albums only imho.
Listened: 10/03/2025 Album no: 32 % rating: 83% Fave song: Fake Plastic Trees I absolutely fucking love Radiohead. I have listened to this album so many times over the years and I’m sure I’ll listen to it more. Not my favourite by them, but still up there. Yep, no notes. Phenomenal. 👏👏👏👏
Listened: 10/03/2025 Album no: 33 % rating: 56% Fave song: Beautiful Day Alright so I was excited about this one. I’ve never listened to U2 properly before, but I have listened to a few individual tracks recently and thought *yeah that’s a massive tune*. They used to be a band I proper hated on when I was younger, but in my age I’ve revisited a few bands/musicians I used to hate on and changed my mind. I was fully expecting U2 to be one one of these bands, however, at about the half way point, I can assert that my hate was justified 😂 Nah, I don’t hate this. It’s not bad all things considered, and I think it’s probably the best of this kind of music. But I just fundamentally have a problem with men having a whine about something when they actually have nothing to whine about. This album gives off this energy. Yeah not for me. They do have some massive singles tho, I’ll give them that.
