Time Out by The Dave Brubeck Quartet

Obviously this is great and iconic and everything but if you've worked any shifts in any hipster food service kinda place Blue Rondo is borderline traumatic. I just feel like there's a queue out the door and someone is shouting at me that their latte is not microfoamy enough and it's 2013 so my skinny jeans are digging in. That's the only reason it's not 5*

Talking Heads 77 by Talking Heads
Mar 15 2025

I really hate talking heads a lot. I almost feel bad about it. It's completely irrational. I can understand that, musically, it's not bad. I just hate the way it sounds so much.

KIWANUKA by Michael Kiwanuka
Mar 22 2025
Bat Out Of Hell by Meat Loaf
Mar 24 2025

Powerful gospel vocals from Meatloaf driven by saccharine over the top cliche filled rock opera compositions from Jim Steinman.

Californication by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Mar 25 2025

Every morning Anthony Kiedis gets on his knees and thanks Christ in Heaven that these talented musicians ever let him make that awful noise over their music. Back in the day he must have had the vanor the bag. There are some 2 or even 3 star RHCP albums but this isn't one of them.

Can't Buy A Thrill by Steely Dan
Mar 29 2025

I was almost enjoying this until 'Reeling in the years', which I like almost as much as Talking Heads (see prev). Again, I understand this isn't technically bad, it's just so not for me in a really profound way I don't fully understand.

White Light by Gene Clark
Mar 31 2025

1001 albums... But 901 of them sound exactly like this god please make it stop.

Third by Portishead
Apr 03 2025
Appetite For Destruction by Guns N' Roses
Apr 10 2025

It just sounds really sexually aggressive and not in a consensual way. Just gross. The vocal is distractingly bad. I thought it suffers from being overplayed and hoped sitting through an album would unlock some charming b sides, but it's just 50 minutes of shit. Its a shame because I think I'd love the instrumental version. As soon as that nasal creepy whining starts I just check out mentally.

Sister by Sonic Youth
Apr 13 2025
Green River by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Apr 15 2025

I-IV-V for 40 minutes. I wish I'd given a mid sonic youth album more points. At least something happens there. Obviously this is well done and unchallenging but that makes it hard to love it.

Darklands by The Jesus And Mary Chain

Tommy by The Who
