Tracy Chapman by Tracy Chapman

Went into this album having only ever listened to fast car. Don't think I was in the right mood to listen to this album and will definitely listen to it again in the future. I need to look into tracy chapmans politics as the lyrics were pretty powerful. Talkin bout a revolution, fast car, and behind the wall really stood out to me. For now I'll give this album a 3/5 but will likely change that in the future.

Time Out by The Dave Brubeck Quartet
Apr 15 2025

This is the first of the 1001 albums that I'll be trying to listen to and review review. Unfortunately, I have mostly only ever listened to jazz as a kind of music in the background. I thought that this album started off pretty strong and didn't feel like a forgettable background piece. I really liked blue rondo a la turk

Live At The Regal by B.B. King
Apr 16 2025

I actually really liked this. I loved the live vibe and the conversations between tracks. The sound is so crisp and makes me feel nostalgia for something I didn’t experience. I imagine what it must’ve been like to be in that crowd. No one holding up phones in a sad attempt to immortalize a moment meant to be beautiful and fleeting. For a moment, all these people were captured by the same thing.

Dummy by Portishead
Apr 18 2025

Unpopular opinion but this album lowkey put me in a bad mood and im not entirely sure why. I think this album feels like it blends together too much. Like yeah glory box is good but still.

Apr 19 2025

This is a pretty solid album, surprised I haven't listened to it before. It's definitely a anthem for people in their 30s. Reading that this was the album Kurt Cobain was listening to when he died also made this album particularly poignant to me. Try not to breathe is a painful one, so is sweetness follows.

Tusk by Fleetwood Mac

The Low End Theory by A Tribe Called Quest
Apr 21 2025

Pretty solid. Definitely see the cultural relevance.

The Stone Roses by The Stone Roses
Apr 22 2025

Not too many thoughts on this album.

Apr 23 2025

Don't judge a book by its cover or whatever but this album cover is beautiful, and the music doesn't stray either. Perfect for in the background listening

Queens of the Stone Age by Queens Of The Stone Age
Apr 24 2025

Tbh did not love this. Lots of electric guitar doesn't guarantee a hit. Very repetitive.

Out Of The Blue by Electric Light Orchestra
Apr 25 2025

Halfway through checking in, I'm already loving this. Although im working while listening, there are moments where I have to pick myself up and just listen. Wow.

Kind Of Blue by Miles Davis
Apr 26 2025

I've gotten a lot of instrumental albums since starting this. I feel like im not qualified to judge this album because of my recent lack of musical activity. I like the sound, and for a moment I almost wrote "doesnt sound like anything new" but then recognized that 66 years ago this likely was something groundbreaking.

Marquee Moon by Television
Apr 27 2025

Not too shabby, but also not super memorable :(

Beautiful Freak by Eels
Apr 28 2025

Liked the vibes, hated the album cover, didnt absolutely love the lyrics. Pretty split about this album.

Back In Black by AC/DC
Apr 29 2025

This didnt save my review :( Anyways, I tried not to feed into the hype but the hype was pretty valid. Got me through a very long night of work so kudos to the folks on over at AC/DC

Van Halen by Van Halen
Apr 30 2025

Wish I could give this 3.5 stars. Definitely a controversial take but I dont think this is everything I expected it to be.

Sincere by Mj Cole
May 01 2025

I understand the novelty and can appreciate the music, but still feel like it's falling short of something. Felt a little too repetitive and also a bit long winded.

Shaka Zulu by Ladysmith Black Mambazo
May 02 2025

Definitely think that the work here has some merit to it, but it also feels very repetitive

The Doors by The Doors
May 03 2025

Definitely need to relisten to enjoy it more fully but this was a pretty solid album.

Suzanne Vega by Suzanne Vega
May 05 2025

Feels very bland. I like the lyrics but the sound is comparable to plain greek yogurt.

Purple Rain by Prince
May 06 2025

I understand this is a pretty revolutionary album, but it just didn't quite do it for me.

Felt Mountain by Goldfrapp
May 07 2025

Yeah this one just wasnt really it

Nowhere by Ride
May 08 2025

Maybe im being way too picky about albums, but this wouldve gotten a 3.5 if it was an option. I see the vision but its not quite there

The Visitors by ABBA
May 09 2025

Now we're talking. Right off the bat i love the build up. The sound is pretty consistently solid throughout.

My Generation by The Who
May 10 2025

Pretty solid, never listened to the WHO like that before and thought that this was pretty good. Interestingly though, I listened to the deluxe edition which is like 3x longer than the original album. It got a bit excessive with the deluxe version but I still think of this album fondly.

Copper Blue by Sugar
May 11 2025

Sounds very blink 182 ngl. Not particularly memorable but also nice for background music.

The Velvet Underground & Nico by The Velvet Underground
May 13 2025

Whenever Nico does her thing this album hits. Also sunday morning is pretty good.

Halcyon Digest by Deerhunter
May 15 2025

Curious vibe. Only ever really listened to agoraphobia by them and thought it was good, this wasn't as amazing except for a few good songs.

Merriweather Post Pavilion by Animal Collective
May 16 2025

Reminded me of that one song bullfrog I really liked back in high school. Could be something i listen to while i work
