-I’d give it a 3.5 if there were half stars -kinda feels like it doesn’t know what genre it wants to be, but not in a way that intentional diversity of sound comes through -I forget how much metal drums use double time and disco beats -some of the songs give like shanty vibes, with the rhythm -I wonder if any of these songs were made or thrown on to appease the label and commercial success as a compromise to the avant garde pieces. -not quite a metal album, not quite solely hard rock, kinda just emo -kinda feels like bisexual or bi-curious metal, if that makes sense
-These are types of albums that make me feel like I should of rated over ones higher b/c it feels criminal (no pun intended) to give it anything below 3 stars but it’s not the same for me as other 3 stars -just feels like an album full of 4ish hits and then background music -dirty Diana might be my favorite, I think it most musicality appealing to me
It’s good for people who like Jazz
I loved this. I loved the sound, it feels so timeless. Captures desert blues in a rock and roll way
It was a nice fluid country album, just not my thing
I’m torn, there are a lot of fantastic tracks sans vocals but I just can’t get into her voice for the most of it, the yeller ones. It has a stronger back end
Solid album, very cinematic feel which seems on brand with the messaging. It does kinda feel like background music and doesn’t command your attention as much
I really should probably rate this 5 stars, the musicality and sound and rhythms are next level but the vocals just don’t do it justice and kind distract me. And it’s way too long
Seems just like a solid rock album, pretty classical
-This is one of those gaslighter albums; that it’s so bad you genuinely gaslight the fuck out of yourself that you must be missing the magnum opus of it and what makes it great. I literally think maybe I don’t know music at all if critics praised this. -I think this is just one of those albums they don’t hold up 30 years later and isn’t timeless, it’s overwhelming the worse parts of 90s music. Like it’s hold music, muddy to a point that I can’t even make out the words -It’s attention grabbing because it feels like it’s a 16th beat off or just slight out of key the entire time. It’s layered in an absolutely messy way. It’s essentially an IPA
-if this album came out when I was teenager, I honestly might be president or soemthing because this shit is anthem -10/10, no notes, the musicality, the lyricisms, the through line, the diversity of sound, the guitar ??? Are you kidding -this is a 90s album that stands up today if not stands taller
-just some real real good folk music with a diversity of sound. You can hear how much he influenced the superbands -also some absolute collaborators
-It’s easy to see how this made the list and how influential Indian music has been in rock and blues and r&b -I really liked the commentary but this felt more like a Indian music for dummies, like a language course -by the nature of the sitar and has he explained, it’s quite repetitive
