My wife owns this album on CD. It's the pinnacle of 21st-century Pop. You'll never catch me listening to it; I consider it "chick music," but it's full of earworms, and Adele has an incredible voice.
I'm still trying to figure out this whole rating thing. If "London Calling" is an easy 5 (which it is), then by comparison, this is a 4. Fav track: Police & Thieves
perfect hangover bliss can't tell if you're coming down or on the way up Fav track - Norway
I wish I could've experienced this when it was brand new. Love the album art It has plenty of great songs, but as an album, dare I say, it's a bit overrated. It lacks cohesion and is inconsistent in terms of quality (especially in the middle). Most pleasant surprise: Funeral For A Friend / Love Lies Bleeding Fav Track: Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
You don't rate this album, it rates you. It told me I was a 5, and my heart rejoiced. "Out of 10", it said, and I promised to be better.
What an interesting coincidence to randomly be assigned this album the day after Brian Wilson's passing. RIP.
I preferred the live versions on disc 2 (20th anniversary definitive master). I'll probably never listen to this again, but it was ok. Fav track: Now my heart is full
Could you listen to Marvin Gaye sing the phone book? Are you recently divorced? If you answered yes to any of the above, this album is for you.
The falsetto is too false-ettoey
The sum is greater than the parts
equal (?) parts cringe, fun, stoopid, and not bad
Listened to this on the home stretch of a looong journey from the Yukon to the Bay of Fundy, without context or forewarning. Battling exhaustion and fog so thick you could eat it with a spoon, I asked myself "what the fuck is this music" before proclaiming, "this music is on drugs, I feel like I'm on drugs", and "we're going to die". Spoiler alert - we didn't die
Have you ever started watching a movie and realized 30 minutes in that you've seen it before but didn't remember it at all? It's kinda like that. One day I will listen to this again for the first (3rd) time and I'll probably think it was pretty neat and then completely forget about it again.
5 stars aren't enough. S-tier album.
Lots of "buried treasure" to be found on this short record. A couple of new ones to me are "Duncan" and "Paranoia Blues". I prefer the demo versions, which I assume weren't on the original album.
I can't believe people truly think this is a better album than "Moondance". I find the vocals here largely annoying, and the songs forgettable. Stop lying, you hipster posers, it's not that good.
Before listening to this album, I was never a Bowie fan. I'm still not.
-1 star for "A man needs a maid". That tune pisses off the ladies and can ruin a whole party.
David Gray is one of the greatest musical David’s.
It’s like cilantro, you either love it or you’re an idiot.
