Paranoid by Black Sabbath
Jul 24 2025

Was fun listening to this album. I’m surprised how not aggressive it sounded compared to MC5. Black Sabbath sounds really rehearsed and cleaner than punk (which isn’t good or bad). I liked the bongo drum song.

I powered through.

Tres Hombres by ZZ Top
Jul 26 2025

We got through it. Perhaps on a different day I could have enjoyed it more.

Master Of Puppets by Metallica
Jul 27 2025

Ooof. Listened because I should. And it reaffirmed that I support other people appreciating guitar riffs. Makes me wonder if kids who wear Metallica t-shirts have ever listened to the music.

A Little Deeper by Ms. Dynamite
Jul 28 2025

17 songs, huh? Th sound seems very reminiscent of female hip-hop artists at the time. Curious where she falls in the chronological order of people like Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill and Beyoncé. She’s way after salt n peppa. Her beats felt less complex or interesting to me, but I wonder if it’s more about me than about the music. There are parts that felt really formulaic - like maybe there are requisite types of tracks artists need. I guess I wonder how genuine all the tracks are because she doesn’t sound incredibly lively. She’s got a few 1st person songs that sound like she’s really working through some hardship. Good on her. It’s super rough to get a break.

Gosh, the early album felt really jack johnson-like, in a good way, and I was enjoying having not heard the album the whole way through before. And then everything turned. I couldn’t appreciate the repetition. Or the self-important intensity. Meh
