This Is Fats Domino by Fats Domino
Aug 11 2025

While this isn’t an album I think I will return to, I still had a nice time with it. I enjoyed all the live instrumentals and the vocals, all of the musicians and Fats Domino are clearly very talented. I also enjoyed listening to it in the context of other music I’ve heard, I could hear not only the blues and New Orleans influences, but also how this played such a big role in inspiring the rock and roll genre. I also found it to be a nostalgic listen, it reminded me of the music my dad used to play me as kid.

The Cars by The Cars
Aug 18 2025

My notes while listening: Feels like a fusion of Adam and the ants, bubblegum pop, and the Beatles Great guitar riffs, solid drum beat, I like the harmonies I really like ‘my best friend’s girl’ (even though it’s kind of just Jessie’s girl) Really enjoying it musically, definitely the kind of album where you tune out the lyrics though Very much seems like a crucial predecessor to 80s pop rock Overall really enjoyed this one, would have given it 5-stars for how much fun I had, but only giving it 4 because I don’t think it was really pushing any musical boundaries

The Velvet Underground & Nico by The Velvet Underground
Aug 20 2025

There were some great songs on here, I especially liked Sunday morning (ofc), femme fatale, run run run, and there she goes again. However, I think it was a tad too excitements for my taste, want a fan of the screechy strings and the last song was one of the quest things I’ve heard in my life. This was another album where I mainly appreciated it for its place in music history, but I doubt I’ll return to much of it.

Beggars Banquet by The Rolling Stones
Aug 21 2025

Had a great time with this album, lots of great songs, I think street fighting man is the best song I’ve heard in a while really loved it. My only critiques are that I think a couple of songs were a minute or two too long, and the more twangy folk stuff didn’t wow me as much as the more rock oriented tunes, though I still enjoyed them.

Vincebus Eruptum by Blue Cheer
Aug 22 2025

Possibly one of the worst listening experiences of my life. Extremely unpleasant, I get that they were pushing boundaries but still the lack of talent at their instruments really stuck out.

Paranoid by Black Sabbath
Aug 23 2025

Had a lot of fun rocking out to this in my bedroom. Really talented instrumentalists and vocals. Basically every song was a banger. Only giving four stars because it didn’t absolutely blow my mind, but will definitely be revisiting

Real Life by Magazine
Aug 27 2025

I thought this was a really solid album. Especially loved definitive gaze, my tulpa, and touch and go. Some of the stuff in the middle was less my taste, but I can definitely see how this was a very influential album. I found some of the songs were almost verging on a rock musical theatre sound, kind of like phantom and rocky horror which was pretty cool.

Music Has The Right To Children by Boards of Canada
Aug 29 2025

I appreciated this as a disinfectant aucun that inspired lots of other music, but want really my thing, also thought it was too long

Aug 31 2025

This album was many things, genre bending, incredibly technically impressive, progressive, boundary pushing, unfortunately the only area where I found it lacking was being enjoyable to listen to. I understand that that wasn’t the point of this album, but i still don’t think I can give it any higher than 3 stars as a result of my personal music taste.

Led Zeppelin IV by Led Zeppelin
Sep 02 2025

Just a great album I don’t have much to say that hasn’t already been said. Only giving it 4 stars because it didn’t change my world, but still a great listen.

Yank Crime by Drive Like Jehu
Sep 03 2025

Another dnf, I just hate listening to angry music.

At Newport 1960 by Muddy Waters
Sep 06 2025

Just a really good time! Unusually I really liked hearing this as a live recording because hearing the crowd go bonkers reminded me how new and exciting this music was when it was released. My favourite song was probably I’ve got my mojo working.

Screamadelica by Primal Scream
Sep 07 2025

I’m a sucker for madchester. Didn’t love the last two songs though :(

Another Green World by Brian Eno
Sep 08 2025

Such a beautiful album. Absolutely loved it. My favourite song was I’ll come running.

Sep 09 2025

Really great vibes. Favourite song was Heavy metal drummer.

Moving Pictures by Rush
Sep 11 2025

Incredibly impressive instrumentals and vocals, had a lot of fun listening to this. My favourite song was The Camera Eye.

Guero by Beck
Sep 13 2025

The first few songs were a fantastic start, but I lost interest as the album went on. Some of the slower songs especially I found to be quite repetitive, and I think the album was too long. Not really my kind of thing, but I can respect his talent.

Tarkus by Emerson, Lake & Palmer
Sep 14 2025

Technically very impressive but prog rock just really isn’t my thing. I also truly believe no artist is talented enough to warrant a 20 minute song sorry.

The Stranger by Billy Joel
Sep 15 2025

A fantastic album, can’t believe I’ve never heard it in full before.

Bert Jansch by Bert Jansch
Sep 17 2025

A lovely, peaceful album. I don’t know if I will return to it, but was a very enjoyable listen

The Fat Of The Land by The Prodigy
Sep 21 2025

Wasn't my kind of thing, but I can appreciate the talent there.

A Girl Called Dusty by Dusty Springfield
Sep 25 2025

Great voice, but the music, while nice, isn’t anything particularly groundbreaking or memorable. Also not a big fan of cover albums, with you don’t own me especially I was just wishing I was listening to Leslie Gore’s version.

Cafe Bleu by The Style Council
Sep 26 2025

Immaculate vibes

Chirping Crickets by Buddy Holly & The Crickets
Sep 27 2025

The songs were fine, but largely unmemorable. I think I might be too young to appreciate music from this era, but I still thought that artists like fats domino and muddy waters had much more soul and musical talent, whereas this just seems boring in comparison.

Violent Femmes by Violent Femmes
Sep 29 2025

The good songs on here were pleasantly weird and a fun listen. However, the album was dragged down significantly by the inconsistent song quality and misogynistic lyrics (I understand these were a product of their time, but they were still uncomfortable to listen to).

With The Beatles by Beatles
Sep 30 2025

This was a very nostalgic listen as I was raised on the Beatles, especially their earlier albums. I love so many of the songs on this record. However, there are definitely some weaker songs which prevents it from being 5 stars for me, especially compared to albums like revolver and abbey road.

Shaka Zulu by Ladysmith Black Mambazo
Oct 03 2025

Really beautiful music, especially appealed to me because of my own experience singing in choirs. However, because it was so stripped back, I found that a whole albums worth in one go made the songs a little tricky to differentiate. I think I would have preferred to only listen to a couple at a time.
