The Coral
The CoralDriving British post-punk that sounds like a precursor to Arctic Monkeys and The Bravery. I’d listen to it if it came on the radio. I don’t think I’d pay to see these songs performed live.

Slow-building jazz-funk. Iconic. Some of the songs drag on, but otherwise I love this album.
I love the aesthetic of this album. I think I get a little tired of it halfway through though.
I knew Running Up That Hill because of Stranger Things, and I think that’s the only song I really enjoy on this album because I’m familiar with it.
Classic 2000s Beck. Good variety, easy to listen to. Groovy and cool.
Pure testosterone-fueled rock-n-roll. A little too much powerchords for my taste.
I really liked this album. It sounds a little sophomoric at moments, which is not surprising given that this is their debut album. However, the combination of the unpolished art-rock, early Brian Eno synth noodling, and screaming saxophone solos make this album super exciting and captivating to listen to.
Big fan. I wouldn’t call myself a deadhead but this album is really good. This sounds like the 70s. Reminds me of Wilco a little bit.
Like any child of the 90s, Lovesong is super nostalgic and I love it. But the rest of the album is so dull by comparison. So many overly drawn-out intros.
Quintessential swing band. Ellington’s piano playing is the bomb. Horns are punchy and precise. I like the inclusion of the interlude talking.
A perfect album. Good variety, plenty of tongue-in-cheek with songs like Take a Load Off Your Feet, tasteful use of synths in Long Promised Road and Student Demonstration Time, classic Beach Boys sound in tracks like Surf’s Up, but overall the album’s sound is more progressive, dynamic, and experimental while still being quite listenable.
Sounds somewhere between Gordon Lightfoot and Bob Dylan. I think it’s decent stuff, but I personally don’t love country and there’s a lot of country influence in this. I’m not a fan of the vocals - seems like he’s trying too hard. There’s nothing surprising or exciting to me about this album.
While it’s not my favorite Beatles album, it’s still a 5 for me because of how it showcases the band’s many creative directions at this point. The duality of Paul and John in Day In the Life is a perfect example of this.
Full of slow jams. A little boring at times.
Despite these songs being so overplayed, this is a pretty good album. I just don’t see myself listening to it casually…I don’t like pop from this era where everything had to be “epic.” Still, Adele’s talent as a vocalist is undeniable.
More ska than I was expecting. There are some hits on here but I don’t love it.
