Marcus Garvey by Burning Spear
Aug 27 2025

Haven't listened to much reggae so far in my life, but this album was decent. I love learning about historical events and figures through the medium of the album, especially when they're a blind spot to the eurocentric canon within academia. Musically the band was incredible. A very tight yet relaxed vibe. Pretty good

Aug 28 2025

Almost engaging to me, I would be fine with this playing in the background of a bootleg jet set radio game.

Hunky Dory by David Bowie
Sep 01 2025

Fantastic album, 1 or so tracks that aren't as fantastic though. Although, "Andy Warhol" doesn't ruin the album for me, it is still incredible.

Catch A Fire by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Sep 02 2025

Pretty fun, bass playing is amazing and easily my favorite aspect of the album.

Sep 03 2025

Killer Queen is brilliant, the rest feels like a snooze fest.

Everything Must Go by Manic Street Preachers
Sep 04 2025

Not super impressed. Not really an obnoxious album, but it doesn't stand out much to me as significant.

Green Onions by Booker T. & The MG's
Sep 05 2025

Loved the keys in this album. Nice and low-key.

Can't Buy A Thrill by Steely Dan
Sep 08 2025

One of my favorite albums of all time by my favorite band ever. Can't Buy A Thrill is pop-rock perfection.

Blonde On Blonde by Bob Dylan
Jan 09 2026

Dylan at his most prolific. Double album with little fat, and songs that bring out feelings similar to a beautiful North American landscape.

1999 by Prince
Jan 10 2026

Really good album with multiple transcendent tracks. I could complain about the song lengths, but that seems to be a deliberate choice that works in the context of the album and the settings it was meant to be played in. Overall, still great but I don't listen to it as much due to a couple sleepers.

Songs From The Big Chair by Tears For Fears
Jan 10 2026

80s pop is somewhat of a blind-spot for me. The 80s nostalgia bait slop that has shoved down our throats since I've been born has soured me to lots of stuff that sounds like this. "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" and "Head Over Heels" are fun, and some of the other tracks are spacey and texturally cool, but I don't think I'd check them out again. Still a decent record.

Jan 11 2026

Pretty great album. Nearly every track has fantastic instrumental hooks, and Byrne's antics are pretty entertaining as well. Rhythm section is amazing, so many great moments between the keys, bass, and drums.

The Band by The Band
Jan 12 2026

Great collection of tracks. Full arrangements and soulful performances.

Guero by Beck
Jan 13 2026

Haven't listened to Beck seriously yet. A very refreshing album, lots of genres melded together in unique and pleasant ways. Really liked this one.

Jan 14 2026

Pretty decent. A like the hits from this album, but there are some tracks that are a little tiresome. I like it a good amount, but his later stuff is really where I start to dig it.

Microshift by Hookworms
Jan 15 2026

This album was okay. More interesting than not, but not many reasons to come back to. They use some psychedelic sounds, but I personally don't believe that it is a novel approach.

Jan 16 2026

Some absolute bangers here, super fun album. I don't know exactly what it is about Elton John's music that I don't completely resonate with, but there's some intangible factor that I just haven't got over yet. I think it's good and even great at points, but doesn't reach that upper tier for me.

Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd
Jan 17 2026

Practically perfect. Emotional, and mechanical.

Figure 8 by Elliott Smith
Jan 20 2026

Didn't expect to like this one as much as I did. Not as sad and gloomy as the other Elliott Smith stuff I've heard, but it's got enough to be distinctly him in my opinion. Good music.

Music for the Masses by Depeche Mode
Jan 21 2026

Not bad, I expected to like it less than I did because I've heard depeche mode before and didn't love it. I still don't love it, but it was fine.

The Number Of The Beast by Iron Maiden
Jan 22 2026

This album was a good surprise. I'm not the biggest metalhead, but I enjoyed this one alright.

Illmatic by Nas
Jan 23 2026

Incredible album, great beats and lyrics.

Paranoid by Black Sabbath
Jan 24 2026

Probably the best metal album I've heard. The low-key tracks on this album are just as good as the singles I feel. Just an amazing album all around.

Dub Housing by Pere Ubu
Jan 25 2026

It was ok, I didn't really care for the vocals but the bass was fun.

I Am a Bird Now by Antony and the Johnsons
Jan 26 2026

I thought it was alright. I honestly didn't like the main vocalist. His vibrato was really annoying.

Jan 27 2026

Perhaps the birth of prog, for some it might be the peak. It isn't for me personally, but it is still undeniably great.

Signing Off by UB40
Jan 28 2026

Idk, it's ok. Pretty fun reverb, but when that's legit the entire album there are diminishing returns.

Appetite For Destruction by Guns N' Roses
Jan 29 2026

I think this album was alright. I've probably just heard Sweet Child O Mine and Welcome to the Jungle too much, but the album didn't really hit me with anything I loved.

Jan 30 2026

Didn't expect to enjoy this one. It was great. Phil Spector is insane and maybe a little glazed, but he did some undeniably good stuff.

Aftermath by The Rolling Stones
Jan 31 2026

Idk, I don't care much for early stones.

So Much For The City by The Thrills
Feb 01 2026

Fine. Love the cover art, the music is decent too. Don't love the vocalist.

Future Days by Can
Feb 02 2026

Really cool. I've only listened to Tago Mago before this, but I think that I like this one a bit more. Clearly very influential while also being developed enough to be great on its own.

Head Hunters by Herbie Hancock
Feb 03 2026

Absolutely love this album. A fun group of musicians clearly having fun, it is awesome.

The Specials by The Specials
Feb 04 2026
