Obviously it’s a classic, so many timeless songs
One of the best albums of the 90s and actually one of the best albums of all time. Every song is amazing, and contains my favourite closing track on any album. Perfect.
Still cannot believe how popular this is/was
It’s awesome, probably now my favourite Leonard Cohen album. The sound of an incredibly talented, intelligent man signing off with dignity.
Doing this 1001 albums thing really makes me realise how subjective music is. I know this is probably good, I know it’s definitely important, and in future if I go back to it in a different frame of mind I will probably appreciate it. But today, I found it so dull. Spider and I was the only highlight, and points to Eno’s (more interesting imo) future.
Really? I needed to listen to this before I die? Seriously?
Would be 5 if it weren’t for ‘jailbait’. That song can get in the bin.
Why this cure album? I’m early in this process so I’m assuming there are others but always felt this was on the weaker end of their 80s output.
22 albums in and this is the first really interesting new discovery. Never been more than a passing fan of Davis so haven’t gone in on any of his “electric” work. This is clearly brilliant. It needs more listens than I’ve had time to give it, and I’ll definitely be coming back to it in future. I expect the 4 is very likely to become a 5 over time.
It’s actually annoyingly alright isn’t it? Bengali in Platforms is a sad presage of the absolute arse that Morrissey would exhibit himself to be later in life, but otherwise most of these songs are quite good. Eurgh.
I just don’t really like Queen. 39 is good though, best song on the album.
