Can't Buy A Thrill by Steely Dan
Oct 01 2025

An album and group that had passed me by at a time when I was young listening to Bowie, Slade, T Rex as examples. The album wouldn’t have been my music at the time it came out but listening at it today I can see why it has lasted being popular. All the tracks were listenable and understandable that “Do It Again” and “Reeling In The Years” were the singles from the album.

Funeral by Arcade Fire
Oct 02 2025

Perhaps through my ignorance I have not listened to Arcade Fire before. Listened to it twice and the second time it certainly started to grow on me. Interesting reading their wiki page. Colourful story. Noting David Bowie’s obvious liking of them it makes me think that perhaps their influence can be heard in his last album “Blackstar” which I thought was different from any Bowie album before.

Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys
Oct 03 2025

Memories of listening to my older Sisters Beach Boys Greatest Hits album when she went out. Knowing where she hid it! Enjoyed listening to this album again in full. At the time of its release It was a new sound which obviously made it a classic breakthrough album but for me while every track is easy on the ear only a few Beach Boys tracks in general stand out for me. “God Only Knows” being one of my all time favourites.

Talking Timbuktu by Ali Farka Touré

I thought I would not like this album at all but it was actually the right relaxing music for this unfit guy to listen to at the gym helping me get through the pain of the running machine!

Histoire De Melody Nelson by Serge Gainsbourg
Oct 10 2025

Struggled understanding the lyrics and the panting but very pleasant!
