One of the greatest intro song/title song combos. Fun listen. Easy to workout or get stuff done while listening. Obviously school of rock took a ton of inspiration from this album. Crazy to think they pulled this off after the death of their original lead singer
Was completely unfamiliar with this artist. Quintessential 70s sound, reminds me of background music to that 70s show. Not my favorite but still enjoyable
90s teenage girls rejoice, this album is for you. Interesting mix of pop and…grunge maybe? Very angsty. Interesting that she has a nice sounding voice in the soft parts of Ironic but that doesn’t really appear in the rest of the album. Recognized more of the songs than I thought I would. Harmonica use in All I Really Want and Head Over Feet was unexpected and fun
Scott Tenorman would be proud. Album seemed reminiscent of psychedelic rock, some spacey sound scapes mixed with hard rock guitar solos. It didn’t take off for me until about halfway through. I’m assuming Tenacious D’s “Wonderboy” took heavy inspiration from “My Iron Lung”
It’s like listening to the Sex Pistols but not as good
Much more grand with more instruments used than I remembered. Fantastic song writing and composition, not necessarily my favorite genre but still great. Art’s vocals seem so clean and effortless
“(Heart of gold) put me in the middle of the road Traveling there soon became a bore, so I headed for the ditch. A rougher ride but I saw more interesting people there." Interesting take on success! Such an iconic and recognizable voice. Loved the harmonica in See the Sky About to Rain, need to bust mine back out again.
Hadn’t really heard most of the songs on this album before. Love the funk vibe. The intro and solo in funky monks were fantastic.
Hot garbage
Longest album so far. Really changed the vibe as the album went on, started punkish, moved to pop rock, then kind of folk acoustic at one point? Enjoyed the vocalist
Hurt is arguably the greatest swan song of all time and it’s one of the best cover songs ever done, crazy to think he was dead within the year of shooting the music video. Hadn’t really listened to the rest of the album before, you can really hear the emotion throughout. However I don’t feel the rest of the album really stood out as much as Hurt
“Love the one you’re with” is an obvious classic but I was very pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed this album. Loved the funkiness of “go back home” and the bluesiness of “black queen”
Never realized “everybody hurts” was an REM song. The soft easy listening sound and unique vocals really set them apart from other alternative bands of the same era. Overall not my favorite vibe but still an enjoyable listen.
“Where is my mind” has such an iconic sound, it’s easy to see why it was used in so many movies growing up. Always curious as to why artists put stuff like a conversation about field hockey players at the beginning of a song.
It was fine, definitely felt like what it was, background music for a movie. Not entirely sure how it made it on to this list
Having a live album on the list is pretty cool. Up beat, fun, rocking mix of songs with some big hits mixed in. Vocals and guitars solos stuck out to me as sounding fantastic especially for it being live.
BAUHAUS. Once again, not sure how it made the list. I thought it was ok, nothing stuck out as being particularly great.
Solid guitar solos, heavy powerchords, memorable vocals, what’s not to love? Some of the best rock that the 80s had to offer but still not quite up to the “Back in Black” standard that we set early on.
Loved the instrument variety in this in. The sax section on bloody well right was great. Title song seemed like quite the grand composition
Enjoyed it but didn’t love it. Kinda punk, kinda alternative
Easy listening hip hop. Fun album
I can see why people like them, good vocalist, some catchy melodies, just not for me
Time of the season is such a great song. The rest of the album was good, I kind of got a beach boys vibe a few times in the melodies
What the hell is going on with “get on top”? Lol. Once again, what the hell is going on with “Devil Eyes”?
This album feels like what racist white people think funk music sounds like
Great artist but 2 to 3 songs from him is more than enough. Other than “rock your body” and “cry me a river” it all just kind of ran together
Some great instrument work but I’m just not a Bowie fan
Man that’s a lot of horns
Very talented vocalist, great range. Definitely enjoyed the 12 bar blues final song
I was working out while I listened to this which was probably the correct environment to enjoy it. Catchy beats, very repetitive
Gangsta. I liked it
Wild world was my only exposure to Cat Stevens before this. I liked the addition of violin to a couple of the tracks including “sad Lisa”
Enjoyed it. Definitely felt more like a long jam session as opposed to a cohesive album though
Pretty good. Kind of standard r&b album
Just an absolute classic. Great vocals, great guitar, great melodies, great lyrics. Honestly, probably my favorite album so far other than back in black
Ok hear me out…there’s something in the vocals that remind me of Michael Jackson. It’s not always there but every once in a while I hear a young MJ.
First disc was pretty good, i don’t think needed it again in French though
what in the fresh hell was that crap?
Electronic isn’t really my thing
