Take Me Apart by Kelela
Dec 05 2025

R&B is really not my jam a lot of the time; I tend to dislike the ways the harmony flows. Extremely jazzed to have enjoyed this album as much as I did, and hoping it's a gateway to other R&B classics. Really silky production and very interesting instrumental choices.

Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs by Derek & The Dominos
Dec 06 2025

Hey guys, I'm gonna make an album where I just play blues licks for the whole runtime, how long do we think it should be?

Machine Head by Deep Purple
Dec 06 2025

The songs are good, the riffs are good, the sound is good, but everyone forgot how to produce vocals in a listenable way between 1970 and 1990.

Crosby, Stills & Nash by Crosby, Stills & Nash
Dec 08 2025

This one will require a relisten, but I think I liked most of it.

Surfer Rosa by Pixies
Dec 09 2025

More visceral than Doolittle. I like Pixies a lot, but I find it a little harder to imagine a time where I'm in the mood for every song on this album. Got banger tho.

Oxygène by Jean-Michel Jarre
Dec 10 2025

Me when the album sounds like every arcade game soundtrack ever but is actually the driving force behind the sound that I've known for my entire life: hey wait this sounds like every arcade game soundtrack ever

I Against I by Bad Brains
Dec 11 2025

Ugh bro my brains fucking suck bro they're so bad my brains are so bad god bro they're literally awful bro like literally dude (me mixing this album)

Brothers by The Black Keys
Dec 13 2025

Like a worse El Camino that steals more from minorities.

L'Eau Rouge by The Young Gods
Dec 14 2025

French Tom Waits be like hon hon hon le chien de pleut

Dec 15 2025

Let's fucking GO this is the type of shit I'm HERE for. One of da best to ever do it bayBEE

In The Wee Small Hours by Frank Sinatra
Dec 18 2025

I do kinda feel like Frank Sinatra is just Hallmark Chet Baker. Almost too saccharine.

Let It Bleed by The Rolling Stones
Dec 20 2025

Genius marketing to put your two good songs on either end of the album. I've always preferred the Beatles, if we're making that comparison, but the Stones are fine. Mick Jagger's kinda so-so though.

Playing With Fire by Spacemen 3
Dec 21 2025

Was the one of the authors' cousins in Spacemen 3 or something?

Siembra by Willie Colón & Rubén Blades
Dec 22 2025

I fully intended to say "it does what it says on the tin" but I think it ended up being a fair amount better than that. May give it another listen.

Get Behind Me Satan by The White Stripes
Dec 23 2025

If you combine The White Stripes and The Black Keys, you get a full piano and a funeral for Patrick Carney.

In It For The Money by Supergrass
Dec 25 2025

Started off not digging it, but was thoroughly enjoying by the end. Will require another listen.

1999 by Prince
Dec 27 2025

I really don't like Prince very much, turns out.

Ctrl by SZA
Dec 28 2025

Man, maybe I do like R&B.

Immigrés by Youssou N'Dour
Dec 31 2025

Hey Mr. Music Reviewer! Why is this album so influential? Well, young one, the kick drum sounds really good.

Midnight Ride by Paul Revere & The Raiders
Jan 01 2026

I was literally falling asleep but I think it was rad. (Edit: I was falling asleep, it was ok.)

Rio by Duran Duran
Jan 02 2026

I fundamentally disrespect this style of 80s music for reasons both known and unknown, but there's not a bad song on this album.

good kid, m.A.A.d city by Kendrick Lamar
Jan 04 2026

Not my favorite Kendrick, and I do think it has the most melodic/production moments that I would say border on annoying, but still.

The Score by Fugees
Jan 06 2026

I would go as far as to say surprisingly unenjoyable.

Maxinquaye by Tricky
Jan 07 2026

I don't personally feel like it's anything special, but it's cool and atmospheric.

Paul Simon by Paul Simon
Jan 08 2026

Graceland better but enjoyed nonetheless.

Yeezus by Kanye West
Jan 09 2026

I thought this was my favorite Kanye album, but I think I prefer TLOP and College Dropout. In retrospect, a 3, I think.

Electric by The Cult
Jan 11 2026

At least it's not Appetite for Destruction.

Talking Book by Stevie Wonder
Jan 12 2026

Yeah I dig a Stevie album.

Done By The Forces Of Nature by Jungle Brothers
Jan 14 2026

Had to go to Youtube. Was not worth it. I am giving it a 3 because I think I would have given it a 3 if it wasn't a pain in the ass.
