1001 Albums Summary

R&B is really not my jam a lot of the time; I tend to dislike the ways the harmony flows. Extremely jazzed to have enjoyed this album as much as I did, and hoping it's a gateway to other R&B classics. Really silky production and very interesting instrumental choices.

Hey guys, I'm gonna make an album where I just play blues licks for the whole runtime, how long do we think it should be?

The songs are good, the riffs are good, the sound is good, but everyone forgot how to produce vocals in a listenable way between 1970 and 1990.

It's a 10 but fuck Roger Waters.

This one will require a relisten, but I think I liked most of it.

More visceral than Doolittle. I like Pixies a lot, but I find it a little harder to imagine a time where I'm in the mood for every song on this album. Got banger tho.

Nothin' wrong with some nice Southern rock. Probably tends a 3.5 tbh but that's ain't real and 4 is too high.

I do kinda feel like Frank Sinatra is just Hallmark Chet Baker. Almost too saccharine.

Genius marketing to put your two good songs on either end of the album. I've always preferred the Beatles, if we're making that comparison, but the Stones are fine. Mick Jagger's kinda so-so though.

Was the one of the authors' cousins in Spacemen 3 or something?

I fully intended to say "it does what it says on the tin" but I think it ended up being a fair amount better than that. May give it another listen.

If you combine The White Stripes and The Black Keys, you get a full piano and a funeral for Patrick Carney.

Hey Mr. Music Reviewer! Why is this album so influential? Well, young one, the kick drum sounds really good.

I was literally falling asleep but I think it was rad. (Edit: I was falling asleep, it was ok.)

I fundamentally disrespect this style of 80s music for reasons both known and unknown, but there's not a bad song on this album.

I mean like, come on.

Not my favorite Kendrick, and I do think it has the most melodic/production moments that I would say border on annoying, but still.

I would go as far as to say surprisingly unenjoyable.

I don't personally feel like it's anything special, but it's cool and atmospheric.

Graceland better but enjoyed nonetheless.

I thought this was my favorite Kanye album, but I think I prefer TLOP and College Dropout. In retrospect, a 3, I think.

It's a Springsteen album. This is my favorite era of his so far.

At least it's not Appetite for Destruction.
