Never listened to it before - apart from Bad Moon Rising, but every song is like a comfy pair of jeans. They slip on, the melody and blues grabs you and then it’s done.

A Little Deeper by Ms. Dynamite

This is not my jam. But I didn’t hate it. I’d give it 3.5 if I could. That cruisey, RnB feel with some great (and wholesome) lyricism.

I thought I was going to not enjoy this as much as I did. I listened to it quite a bit back in the day and thought that I might find it a bit too crude and offensive 25 years on - but no, it’s a classic. Beyond one or two filler tracks, everything else is high calibre - dark, disturbed but highly self aware. Kim is still pretty harrowing though and I won’t be playing it around the kids any time soon.

Illinois by Sufjan Stevens

Chicago is a great song. It reminds me of early 2000s summer. The rest of the album doesn’t grab me nearly as much but I should give it a few more listens before I make up my mind.

It’s a solid album. But overall, I walked away from it going “yeah, I heard these back in 1996 and I didn’t really need to hear them again.” But I’ll roll with it.
