The vibey late 80s instrumentals were ruined by the singers annoying, barking vocals for me.

Was not expecting to like it going in but it was a vibeeee

Reggae is just not my thing, but I did like it better than the other Bob Marley album

Love the disco influence, and New York I love you is a certified twee classic imo

This album is sooooo nostalgic for me, my sister and I used to listen to it together all the time when I was 15 and it captures teen girl breakup angst so well. The lyrics don’t resonate with me quite the same now tho lmao

I knew I was cooked as soon as I saw the album was 53 min long but only had 4 songs…

As a Joni Mitchell stan, I feel like I should love Fiona apple too but it’s missing something for me

Too experimental for my taste

Oh boy howdy do I sure love this album! I grew up listening to their greatest hits album and it’s crazyyyy how many songs on there are from this album (6 of the 9 btw) They really know how to write a tight, melodic, pop rock song. Moving in stereo is my fav on this album and one of my fav cars songs period

Knew I was going to love it in the first 5 seconds when I heard the 70s disco violins. AND it’s Willie Colón = great trombone playing. I might have to buy this record. This is my first 5 to give to an album that I’ve never heard before!

Interesting album… I think the first song is definitely the strongest and I could see it eating on a movie soundtrack actually. It’s crazy too that this is from 1974 because if you asked when it was from I would have said early-mid 80s. That being said, I really like the instrumental backing but found the vocals a little repetitive for my taste

Bro what did I do to deserve two metal albums this week :( but there were enough melodic interludes and real singing on this one to get me through it at least

I would have given this album a 4 because I like 80s rap and it’s obviously so iconic and culturally significant, but I’m giving it a 3 because some of the lyrics are so woman-hating and sexually violent it’s genuinely upsetting and hard to listen to as a woman. I’m not judging anyone who likes it, that’s just my own personal experience of it :/
