Boomin' and groovin'. Iggy's voice is so iconic, I could tell just from listening. Lyrics are pretty good; laughed at the end of "Success"! Pop knows how to set a mood with just his voice. I commend him for that.
Some tracks, like "Sixteen" and "Turning Blue" suck, though. Docking a star for that.
Production was great, and the mood that the songs set was on point. Didn't really move me or change my life. Docking a star.
Pretty good album. Understand why it was a classic
Started off with a banger and held strong until about halfway through the album, when it kinda fell off in the middle of "Wherever I May Roam".
"Of Wolf and Man" and "The Struggle Within" were two standout tracks, but everything after that just didn't do it for me. Almost feel asleep while listening to "Nothing Else Matters", don't know why that song even fits in with the album. Docking a star for the formulaic nature of the songs on this album, as well as the length of some songs.
Overall, production was peak, and some songs really moved me. James Hetfield vocals were excellent, and Metallica is cohesive and talented as a band. However, this album may just be overhyped in terms of quality.
Bluesy, yet trippy at the same time. Terrific, eclectic blend of the two.
At first I thought Jimi wasn't a good vocalist, but he proved me wrong QUICK. Lyrics are, much like poetry, indifferent yet passionate.
What goes crazy is production. Those drums make you wanna run like a rabbit from a wolf, but the wicked guitar effects make you one with the universe at the same time. Although impressive, the music didn't do all that much for me. It's my taste, but it's still a factor. Unfortunately, docking a star.
This album was very good, but the quality of the music itself and the legendary legacy of Jimi isn't what impacted me the most; it's the way that it challenges all of your perceptions of music. It makes you reconsider what your tastes are and what the music you listen to says about your place in the universe. Axis: Bold As Love is profound, regardless of whether it tickles your fancy.
Pretty good album. Production was amazing! Lyrics were a bit unsettling, and I’m sure that Bowie has produced better works than this.
This album is the most accurately titled album I've listened to.
Not a bad first folk album to listen to. “Matty
Groves” is a very good track! I haven’t been brought up to English and Celtic culture, however, so I can’t appreciate folk music all that much.
Amazing sound, I can easily imagine this typa music moving the club.
Lyrics (although they’re quite repetitive) are well-crafted and some of them really hit home.
The sounds are bouncy and soft, making them really fun to listen to. Multiple bangers!
All in all, great album. “Policy of Truth” is my favorite track; I love the bassline so much!

WAAAAYYYYYYY better than I expected.
I saw the album cover and literally went "what the fuck is this? Who the fuck are these people?"
Was kinda a snoozefest until "Tooting Bec Wreck"; this was when the album gave me a killer groove. I honestly don't give two rats about the rudimentary lyrics, I usually don't pay attention to the lyrics in a song anyway.
(I was brought up on pop and EDM, so I give more weight to production than lyrical meaning)
Until I Get You is an amazing song! I will listen to it and Bec Wreck a couple more times.
Rest of album was boring.
Kinda sucks. Bass sounds muddy. Some tracks were pretty upbeat, and some had a decent sound to them, but I never got the message. Will never understand stoner culture (probably 'cause I have no plans of doing psychedelics any time soon), and this album doesn't really do anything to hype it for me.
Not a bad classic rock album! So many different sounds used in interesting ways, so there's always some variety and spice. However, the vocalists isn't the best and sometimes the music in ways that don't necessarily seem harmonic.
"Cryin' To Be Heard" and "Medicated Goo" are awesome tracks! Don't know what playlist I'd put them in, though.
Wrote a song for everyooone… when I couldn’t even talk to you
Metal before metal.
Punk before punk.
Concept album before the concept of concept albums.
Rock opera before the rock opera.
Radiohead before Radiohead.
But not as good.
I swear to god, this is what goes through the head of a school shooter. I've listened to quite a bit of breakcore isn't even half as chaotic or awful-sounding as this. The bottom part of the album says "JOHN ZORN [et al.] PLAY THE MUSIC OF ORNETTE COLEMAN." I'm pretty sure these instrumentalists were respected in their own rights, but coming together do bastardize the music of Ornette Coleman? That's a low blow.
At least I know that they didn't do it intentionally.
(if you want to know what breakcore sounds like, my personal favorite song is "1UZ-FE" by Blksmiith. They're on YouTube, so you'll have to deal with ads. Although, the ads can't even compare to the torture that was listening to 30 minutes of that album. )
First track kinda sucked and the rest of the tracks were somewhat incoherent and abrasive. This is expected of experimental jazz, but Mingus’ composition is somewhat more harmonious than I expected. Some real toe-tapping sections.
Sounded pretty nice! Cuss words came outta nowhere, but I dig em. Pretty good sound, distinctly British.
I only liked about half of the tracks. “Revelation” had to break a record or something. Pure insanity.
“Orange Skies” and “She Comes in Colors” were enjoyable tracks.
The vocalist is not a good vocalist 😬. The instrumentation was, for the most part, very good but his screechy, repetitive singing detracts from the overall sound.
Three stars. One for each of those tracks.
She SZA on my Ctrl till I 5-star
“These songs would normally sound a boring and pathetic, but Charles and his ensemble add soulful emotion and raw passion to this otherwise plain pop.”
Sorry, let my music critic voice slip in for a second.
An operatic, bombastic, rockin' masterpiece. I audibly yelled "NO FUCKING WAY" at 6:30 a.m. in the morning while walking to my bus stop when I got this album.
So far, quite underwhelming and lacking in harmony. I can feel how off the instrumentation is in every song. Iggy's voice can't keep distracting me for long.
I can tell The Stooges are having plenty of fun, so I can give them props for that: they're doing what a punk band should be doing, which is producing rebellious music with little skill. Somehow, it sound like music.
In my opinion, most punk rock is awful, but I acknowledge that actual musicians sometimes produce punk rock. However, it seems like a mix of punk musicians and punk wannabes play these songs, so it gets a 3-star.
Edit: where in the hell did that saxophone come from? If my opinions weren't confirmed beforehand, the saxophone committing violence. Lowered to two stars.
