First album on my list, a classic. Nina is a powerhouse vocally and musically, and you can't discount the significance of her as an artist. I've never intentionally sat down to listen to Nina Simone's music before so I appreciated having an excuse to listen through this album. I've heard songs off this album before, but after listening through the whole thing, it's indisputable the impact her music has had on the direction of modern music and composition, even now 60-some-odd years later.

It's really hard to believe this and my last album (Nina Simone's Wild is the Wind) were BOTH released in 1966. In comparison it feels far from revolutionary or extraordinary. A lot of the reviews on this site seem to say it's "fine" and I would agree. It's very agreeable music that doesn't say a whole lot or engage me as an album past just being some songs. Maybe there's more past that but it's not really engaging enough for me to care to look for more than that. "Monday, Monday" and "California Dreamin" carry the album above a lower score.

FANTASTIC start, I love an album that eases you into the vibe and Take a Bow does a stellar job of that. It becomes a little one-note through the 6th song, but song 7 on the album, Assassin, really switches it up which re-engaged me immediately with the more distinctly metal instrumentals that I got hints of in the opening song. Happy to see that followed through on. Some of these songs are going STRAIGHT onto my playlists.

Some absolute classics on this one, phenomenal moody vibes! It's got moody vibes without being performatively horny or anything. I LOVED Enjoy the Silence, it was probably my favorite track.

Absolute powerhouse of an album. Aretha Franklin is an icon and a star in the music world. This is the first time I've listened through this whole album but there's a very good reason I recognized most of the songs on this album already. Each one is full of emotion and skill, both in composition and vocal strength. Ugh. Gods I love her. Every song was banger after banger and I'll be humming them for days after.

GET IN THE PLAYLIST, GO GO GO GO GO EVERYONE IN NOW!!!!
Easiest 5/5 of my life. I love AC/DC, grew up listening to them. I can't get enough!!! Such a quintessential rock album.

It's music but I think I hate Britpop. Like a lot. I'm four songs in to this two disc album (32 songs total) and I'm so bored. Parklife (The title track, and most listened to song by 100,000,000 plays on Spotify) is dull talking over repetitive music. Frankly I'm annoyed. This is talentless repetitive and NOT catchy (at least to me) I will not be finishing this album if I can help it and oh my god song five has started and I want to shoot my speakers. Why is album this on this list? British people can't season food and they sure as hell can't season music. Hard pass, please stay away from my playlists.

Disappointing for an album called "Pornography", apparently there was a lot of depression and drug use in the band at the time of writing this album and it kind of shows in the way that addiction can make your life bland and one-note, even if that note is edgy and chaotic. After the first two songs, I found myself asking "Is this song over yet?" Yes, yes it was. This is, in fact, the fourth song in a row you've asked yourself that question. Trés blah, might add one or two to a playlist for whenever I don't want to listen to music, just have it on. Next!

Pleasantly surprised! I can hear inspiration from this album from the 70's in a lot of more recent music that I enjoy which is always nice! The first song was a charming 1:23 long and his songs know when they've said what they need to (shown in the typically sub-3-minute length of songs on this album) a pleasant relief from some of the Britpop on this list. I'm looking at you, Parklife by Blur. It was refreshing and groovy with high and low points that kept me engaged. Solid album! Probably not going on any playlists.

Incredible album, some fantastic songs on there. Honestly my biggest complaint is that it's over too soon! Some of these songs are already on my playlists :P

Oh no, they're British :/
I really wish they could sing, I'm not sure why all British music so far has ended up just being them talking over weird music. Yeah, it's punk. Sure it's influential to the genre. Yay, women making music and redefining genres. I did not need to listen to this album before I died though. I feel like I should've done a lyrical analysis of this song in a Queer Studies class, yknow? My playlists say no thank you, but I'm probably more cultured right now. Someone give these poor girls a shower.
Fantastic album! Classic, easy 5/5

White men? Huh. If you say so. I guess the British can be okay sometimes!
I would've described this as ambient afro-inspired dance music, but those are two pasty British men soooooooo. To be so honest I'm not sure why it's on this list, it doesn't feel particularly inspired, but maybe I'm missing some context. Some of these songs are SO long, by the time I thought I might be over half done with the album I'd only gotten 4 songs in. Phew. Probably not going on the playlists.

It's okay, sounds like music my dad listens to on the radio, and I get the feeling that if I were alive in the 1960/70s I would've been SUPER into this music. Will consider for playlists.

Very vibey, absolutely music I would've gone crazy for at the time (I'm turning into my father...). A little melancholy but still peaceful and nice. I'd play this sailing down a canal in a rowboat on a foggy spring morning. Unfortunately, I am bone tired so this kind of put me to sleep but I'm not entirely mad about that. I want to keep listening to it forever tbh.

Pretty good, I think Az will like Intro, otherwise relatively unremarkable but pretty decent music. No plans for the playlists.
