i only listened to half of it...
(guitar) (guy speak sings some sad words) (More guitar)
not bad... i would defo eat it up if i was like angry
enjoying! it's giving like Deadpool battle sequence
good diversity in songs but they still all worked well as an album
i enjoyed it but im not like devouring it hence four stars
classic
i like stay away
on the whole it's just not my to my taste especially the vocal style... i don't think it's bad just not for me
Groovy. Me likey
i can appreciate the diversity but defo not for me.
im warming up to it more at let the good times roll/the one before
"Singing" that is too speechy for a long times reallllyy pmo
Fuck off there's a fourteen minute song. Although honestly i think it would enjoy the lore/the bit of a song being fourteen minutes if i wadnt pissed at it
Overall it's fine... some stuff i didn't like but it balances with stuff i did like a decent amount. I hope I hate something or like something soon so i stop giving threes out
i much prefer this sound in general
i like changes
others i found a little boring on average
i prefer this more to my other threes but i don't like it enough for it to be promoted to four
what in the daddy issues
yeah most of this was ass
there were a few songs - where are we now and you will set the world on fire - that were okay. didn't like a lot of the vocals (including in where are we now but it had some strange dreamy melancholic nostalgic aura that i vibed with). defo struggled to finish it the few good songs do Not make up for how much i didn't like listening to the rest.
the nurse is diabolical. So bad. it sounds like if 'silence occasionally interrupted by metal clanging pipes' was 'pretty mid but cutesy primary school song occasionally interrupted by a guitar with murderous intent' im genuinely unsure how they have managed to gaslight themselves into thinking this was something the world needed to hear. this song makes the album Irredeemable but I will say some nice things
red rain is the right around of weird for me. its probs my fave. the other less experimental songs are also fine or decent, sounds like a disorganised mika sometimes which isn't terrible. it did go a bit yee haw ? at times which wasn't my favourite but wasn't terrible
i really liked the majority of this and will probs add some songs to my playlist. the problem is i can't remember what songs i liked because it took so long to listen to. also wtf is going on at the end? i really liked the art of dying. ithink i liked wah wah too but i don't really remember because it was a long time ago (this morning). there's so much idk what to rate it's not like I was riveted the whole time but it is pretty good? I think four is correct here
i respect the grind. unfortunately it's really not for me i just wanted it to be over the whole time
tldr: in a lot of these songs i hear influence from/on musical theatre and i love it (im sure there are some direct links but i aint researching). love her voice, instrumentatio (esp the woodwindssss), and harmonies. really love it and i think some of these songs will join my playlists. If this album was a musical it would be one of my top musicals. i will listen to more of the carpenters!
We've only just begun - lovely beautiful. lovely voice. touching in a 'song u sing when u leave school/club/move away'. sort of song i would cry to if i heard it at the wrong (right?) time
love is surrender - fun and summery. almost a little bossa nova which i can get behind?
maybe it's you - another beautiful theatre kind of ballad. she has such a nice voice that i don't worry about not enjoying listening to it. love the instruments i am a sucker for oboe and the likes (i think it's an oboe). GOD her voice is beautiful
reason to believe - this kind of song reminds me a little bit of stuff my dappa (grandad) would listen to rip dappa. Maybe i will cry listening to this album
Help - ehh...
Close to you - another ballad that could be in a musical.. I actually had to check if there was a musical that this was in. beautiful harmonies
Baby it's you - OBOE...
I'll never fall in love again - THIS IS IN A MUSICAL! promises, promises. We got proposed it for eusog once. i liked this take, a little bossa nova vibes again. like just a eensy weensy bit.
Crescent moon - maybe the name is influencing me but im feeling the witchy/Victorian/graveyard vibes of this song. it also reminds me of something that i can't put my finger on - some like ancient celtic/European ritual ahh vibes. probably could be on Eurovision
Mr guder - okay we're having some fun! i like it
I kept on loving you - cute!
Another song - you can probably guess what I'll say about this song. it could be in a musical. okay maybe the interlude is a little funky wah wah and it's a very strange way to end a beautiful album but it's okay. Fine. I don't care. Whatever.
good 👍
maybe i have a short attention span but i was getting a bit bored with the pure sax esp for most of part one, and wouldn't miss the random ahh vocals. brought it back in part two though the whole one at a time traditional (jazz) style is just a little much for me especially when there's nothing else (and it goes on soooo long), im defo more of a big band fan (influenced by mario kart and musical theatre...). just not quite enough to my taste to generate a stank face (which would be five star territory) however there is a reason Coltrane is the jazz bar password. Massive icon, and massive amounts of skill whole way thru. And I did think this was overall good. Four stars.
never let them know ur next move...
im not sure how to feel. i didn't think it was bad but i didn't really enjoy much of it - maybe except vastopol? even then i wasn't obsessed. and the yapping pissed me off. maybe im being harsh because ive run out of listening stamina but it's like a 2.5 just not as interesting as things ive given three...
I enjoyed this
loved the vocals but the interlude (let's go away for a while?) was also one of my top faves. Maybe it's like a >3.5 < 4.0 but ive given a lot of threes so imma bump it up bcos i defo like this more than avg. although some songs did have that wham effect to me where they sound like a christmas song just because of the era and style
so iconic - love her vocal style. love the instrumentation and use of fun percussion and big brass sounds. upbeat songs with dark/sad lyrics/stories are always bangers. that said the more melancholic sounding songs such as 'love is a losing game' are also beautiful. it takes a lot for me to enjoy listening to ballad type songs but if anyones gonna convince me it's amy winehouse
it kind of all sounded the same to me ... little bit too messy (?) sounding for my taste as well... i don't think it's objectively Bad but it's just not for me I'm the slightest
there were some songs i did actually like a bit just overall not my vibe
i see we are an insane lad.. she's experimental... i see...
almost lost me but i think we're coming back
it's a three point five in my heart. it's definitely good and i wouldn't complain if it was background music, I didn't get bored but i also wasn't particularly compelled by anything.
uhhh it was weird but not in a bad way. better for ambient listening imo, not that exciting but i did like the psychedelic vibes more than i thought i would
whoopsies im late
overall i think there's some decent songs (especially the one uhh um Jenny?) and in general i like everything Aside from the main vocalists style. it sounds really thin and nasally to me and it makes me nervous 😭😭 i feel like a misogynist im sorry women. it was especially bad to me in the first song so i think it set me off on the wrong foot
I quite liked it! maybe more of a 3.something than a 4 but overall good vibes. didn't rly like their rendition of heard it thru the grapevine, however i actually enjoyed the long song quite a bit which is saying a lot. had fun listening to it
DISLIKE
it started off okay and then i just got bored and liked it less and less as it went on... idk maybe it wasn't the right moment when i listened? all over the place in a way i didn't like and i just zoned out... some of it i wouldn't consider music just an amalgamation of sound
Separating art from the artist here...
I don't really listen to or like rap/hip hop. However I can appreciate that this is very good. He is a good rapper. Each song is unique but still flows well together and the writing and rapping is also great (i think.. im not exactly an authority)
i stopped paying as much attention in the latter half... 12 minute long final song is diabolical. however it was (unfortunately) objectively good. just not my style i would never listen again even if it was by someone unproblematic
i eateth thine shyte upwards. lots of dnd vibes. i will say the voices are not my absolute fave but they fit the style. yeah idk what to say other than i really like it. more of a 4.5 but i think it deserves rounding up
me when i increase my elevation at the edinburgh uni student theatre
that was shit. i like the bits of erzulie where there wasn't singing and not much else. that said the execution is good aside from the vocals so i won't give it one star
