Beautiful. I want to eat the mix. Lots of great songs but some get drowned out by the beauty of others. The God that Failed has always been a hard hitter for me. Exemplary metal album.
Jump is always a great start into the album. You’ve got to love EVH’s playing. I don’t usually listen to hair metal but bring back the hair and the feel good. As an album it’s great and so short you can’t exactly pick it apart.
One of the first CDs I bought and a classic for a reason. Really changed the game (thank you Pixies). While not my favourite record, that doesn’t mean it isn’t a great. The sound is incredible and I truly love all the songs, no skip album for me. The songwriting, especially behind the more mellow songs like Polly, really gets to me. Kurt was talented at writing about horrifying topics and getting people to listen.
Really grateful I got to listen to this album. Incredible with great guitar licks. Feeling the funk 🕺 and the psychedelics...
It’s always a pleasure listening to Hendrix’s playing. I can’t imagine how it felt being Bob Dylan and listening to what Hendrix did with All Along the Watchtower. The impact of this album is insane. Masterpieces in here, but not my favourite unfortunately.
Hmmm… wasn’t really my thing. A lot of songs had great elements but didn’t grab me. I was idly listening rather than actively and it was all samey. Felt like I was listening to the Beatles (but not quite as good sorry).
I really liked the instrumentation of the songs but the vocals weren’t all there which is unfortunate. I still quite enjoyed it and I’d say it was an okay album.
What an interesting album. Lots of songs I really enjoyed and others… not so much. I really fucked with the marimba, it was funny to hear. I felt like I was back in my high school music class but in a good way, with people playing instruments that “shouldn’t really go together”. I’d say overall it’s a decent album and I enjoyed some elements. I respect The White Stripes so it gets a 3.
Beautiful. I really respect George’s songwriting and this is a lovely album. Lots of great songs and a great atmosphere created overall. Tad bit long for my liking.
I can’t deny the influence these guys had on the metal and punk scene. The outfits, hair, and androgyny are my favourite!!! Go glam!!! It’s a good album but failed to capture me at moments. I can imagine how crazy this was at the time though.
Great album and lovely songs. Karen Carpenter was exceptional. I have a soft spot for this album, very sweet and melancholic.
“And to prove to myself that this is the end… I taped this over our wedding video… Bye Homie…” - Marge Simpson
WHY DO BIRDS SUDDENLY APPEAR
GREATTTT. Love this album. I definitely have a few favourites but every song is a banger - no skips. Thank you Siouxsie Sioux! Big fan of that guitar sound and the overall ambience of this album. Sick.
You hear the guitar and know you’re in for a treat. It’s my favourite part about the Smashing Pumpkins. That guitar tone is sooo yummy and their sound is incredible. Get out the big muff!!! This is a really good album.
I really enjoyed some of the songs from this album - many classics. Overall, I liked it but I think I had to be in a certain mood to listen to it. I will end my review with the “are they an Irish band” controversy.
Yessssss play that cymballlllll. I do love a double bass and John’s sax playing is incredible. A really enjoyable listen.
This was a quite strange, ambient album. I enjoyed some moments and it was nice to have this playing in the background at work. I wouldn’t really listen to this any other time.
Some songs really hit but others not so much… Decent album though and I liked listening to it.
Meat Loaffffff. A dramatic and exciting album with various great aspects to it. Can hear its influence in other bands. I feel like I’m in a theatre production while listening which is nice. Made work 10x more fun!
Godddd… I wish I could play guitar like that. I also wish I could sing like that although it makes me giggle sometimes. I’ve always been meaning to listen to Iron Maiden more so it was nice this came up. Great album, great sound. Incredible musicians.
I quite enjoyed sitting listening to this. The songs did all blend together but I appreciated the vibe and harmonica.
The instrumentation was fantastic on a lot of songs but some failed to fully deliver when the vocals kicked in. A fun listen and lots of great drum beats and guitar licks to keep you interested. It made me giggle when their songs did what they said on the tin like “Let The Drummer Have Some” and “‘nuf That Shit, George”.
I really enjoyed this album it did everything pretty perfectly. It’s a solid rock album. Maybe wasn’t a fan of one or two songs, but they were still good.
It was really promising for me in places and I understand its impact, but it just didn’t really do much for me. Some songs I really enjoyed and others I didn’t care for. Unfortunately it’s a 3.
Great live album. I don’t usually listen to the genre, nor Johnny Cash, but I really enjoyed what I heard. I liked the authentic feel from him talking to the audience, etc.
The opening to this album is insane I’m howling whattttt… There’s good grooves in here with that classic high pitched 90s synth sound that always hits. Snoop’s rapping is good although idk what he’s saying most of the time - probably a good thing. Decent album.
I enjoyed a lot of songs which are super famous, but the album didn’t really have the WOW factor for me. It’s a solid album but I’ve unfortunately not been able to get into Green Day. I’m yet to put my finger on what’s exactly putting me off but I think it’s vocals… no offence Billie Joe Armstrong.
A sensational album. Has always been a favourite and for good reason. Just so sad the story behind it all and what everything led to. Amy is a genius I love her. No skips beautiful album.
