Time Out by The Dave Brubeck Quartet
Apr 13 2026

I enjoyed the listening experience overall. Favourite was the first track and take five but I enjoyed the whole thing even though I’m not a big jazz fan. 4/5

What's Going On by Marvin Gaye
Apr 15 2026

Absolute stone cold classic. Perfect end to end . So many favourites but I can’t go past mercy mercy mercy me ( the ecology) . Could easily loop that one. Musically this album is pure sex but if you dive into the lyrics there’s also real political depth too. 10/10

Bat Out Of Hell by Meat Loaf
Apr 16 2026

Not my cup of tea . Never has been 2/5

I Should Coco by Supergrass
Apr 17 2026

Straight out of the blocks with the frantic ‘I’d like to know ‘ into the magnificent ‘caught by the fuzz’ which was definitely a bit of an Anthem with mr and my mates when living in London mid nineties. Mansized rooster sounds like a bit of a 60s throwback leading into the timeless Alright . This one has had a tic toc resurgence and sounds as fresh as it did in the nineties . That is a very strong 4 song opening stretch. The rest of the album is good with lots of sixties and seventies vibes ( Lenny is a stomper) and strange ones is a bit Doors like which I enjoy. Super fun album from the Brit pop era. I personally prefer a bit more depth in lyrics and mood ( pulp, suede) but this one deserves 4/5 stars

Thriller by Michael Jackson
Apr 20 2026

It’s fine . Some absolute classic songs but a few ok ones

Roxy Music by Roxy Music
Apr 24 2026

What an absolute classic album . Being born in 1972 I’m very much an after the fact Roxy music and Brian ferry concert. I love and appreciate all the phases. Virginia plain rightfully remains a stone cold classic . Other favourites of mine on the album are re make / re model , Ladytron , If there is something , HB and chance meeting which more than hints at the future breadth to come 5 stars

Green Onions by Booker T. & The MG's
Apr 28 2026

Green onions the songs wiuld make 1001 songs before you die but the rest of this album is mainly renditions of other songs in pedestrian to pleasant instrumentals . 1 star as this shouldn’t be in the list

Searching For The Young Soul Rebels by Dexys Midnight Runners
Apr 29 2026

I love new wave but never really gave a Dexy album a spin before. Geno is a classic and possibly their best song. The rest was really enjoyable with no major stand outs for me . I did enjoy turn me when my light turns green . 3 stars

The Colour Of Spring by Talk Talk
Apr 30 2026

I own this one on vinyl . Bought it about 18 months ago as a bit of risk , not knowing to much about Talk Talk other than they are highly regarded. It’s an absolutely superb album from beginning to end . No bad songs . It’s a real overall feel of an album

May 01 2026

It’s ok but my major problem here is it’s not ground breaking ( even when accounting for the year of 1975) and I know of dozens of better albums than this that have been released that will not be in this list . I’d give it a 2 as an album but will score it a 1 as don’t think it’s worthy . The artist himself doesn’t even rate this release.

Talk Talk Talk by The Psychedelic Furs
May 06 2026

A perfect new wave album . I have this on vinyl already. Pretty in pink is a stone cold classic . No week tracks but some favourites including Dumb Waiters, into you like a train and no tears

Music for the Masses by Depeche Mode
May 07 2026

A brilliant album from an incredible 80s band . They had a dream run of records into the 90s

Imperial Bedroom by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
May 08 2026

I really like this album but I don’t think it’s his best . Elvis is amazing and this is probably 4-5th best for me so 3 stars

Vespertine by Björk
May 13 2026

A superb find . I’m already a huge fan of post and debut but this might become my favourite

Kilimanjaro by The Teardrop Explodes
May 22 2026

Really enjoyed this ‘deeper cut’ of the new wave landscape. You can see how acts like Pulp and even the Happy Mondays were influenced by this .

Illinois by Sufjan Stevens
May 25 2026

Brilliant album

May 27 2026

Stone cold classic that still holds up too. I remember being really into this one . Your twisting my melon man
