Strong vocals from Ms Lauryn Hill and powerful lyrics from the group. Definitely a different vibe from Miseducation. Had some alright songs but it hits hard when it does

Haunting yet beautiful vocals alongside a tight knit band that crafts intricate and powerful instrumentals. Bowie’s voice is shaky and disorganized, his lyrics are very loose and all over the place. My favorite part of the album overall is the instrumentals that help clash the vocals (which aren’t to my taste but Bowie is 69 and that’s his style).

George Harrison knows exactly how to make a double LP long, yet engaging and without many filler tracks (just like the white album). The instrumentation of his slide guitar and layering of horns, keys and other instruments keeps one on their toes wondering what track will come next. What I also admire about the album is that the second disc is just as good as the first, written/production wise and through its quality. But would I come back to this album over and over again? Probably not. There are definitely many songs that are pieces of art such as the ballad “My Sweet Lord” and opus “Out of the Blue” but it is an album I’d come back to every month or so.

What I admire about Ray Charles is that he knows what he’s doing musically. He knows how to layer the horns together, his songwriting is simple and yet from the heart. But as I listen to big band music like this from this same era of music, I can’t help but be questioning constantly, “I’ve listened to this somewhere, haven’t I?” It’s as if the structure of the songs he makes have the same as many of that time period. Though I recognize the beauty and timeless nature of this album, I don’t think this is something I’d revisit any time soon or in the distant future.
Overall Score: Strong 5
I didn’t like it, but I didn’t…not…like it. It was definitely very long (due to the track list) but I did enjoy songs such as Christmas, I’m free, sparks, and overture. But it isn’t an album that I will listen to ever again, probably in another year or sometime in the distant future when I forget about it but it has nothing that made me feel anything, and that’s a big part of how I enjoy and consume a great album.
Overall score: Light 5
Honestly, as cohesive this album is, and how timeless people say it is, I don’t mess with this. It seems to drain on and on and I only enjoyed a few of the songs. The game show skits were fun, but the orgy skit wasn’t (at all like why would they put that in there???). Anywho, this album didn’t do much, and when it did it was either pretty good during a few times, it was very silly, quirky, and you could tell they had a lot of fun with it.
Overall Score: Light 4
I enjoyed this more than I expected. Though he drones on with the vocals at points, the instrumentation is great enough for the tone and overall mood. Though the album had many tracks that were just average for me, it was a very cohesive project.
Overall score-Light 6
The opening track hits you HARD. Her vocals powerful and intricate guitar playing captivates you. But then afterward, Cry Baby TEARS INTO YOUR SOUL with raspy and intense vocals (same with A Woman Left Lonely). The instrumentals on Half Moon with the bongos and piano go very well together. But we can’t forget about the ENTIRELY INSTRUMENTAL song “Buried Alive in the Blues” which is jammed packed with bluesy riffs and is just an orgasm of sound. Me and Bobby McGee is amazing due to its songwriting and performances. Mercedes Benz is a track that isn’t a surprising addition to the album, it’s one of those songs that isn’t just a country tune that isn’t a skip, but is just a fun little add on. Surprisingly, I enjoyed the crap out of this, I have found no skips on this and each and every song has about the same quality to it. I came in with low expectations and came out super impressed.
Overall Score-Decent 8
Mid, I understand how metal fans would enjoy this album, but for me it seems lacking in substance and isn’t very interesting
Overall Score-Strong 4
Good album, has great highlights and is something anyone can enjoy.
Overall score: Strong 6
Honestly, I didn’t think I’d like this album that much until just now. The guitar playing is great, and Chris Martin’s vocals are warm and melancholic. There are amazing tracks on here such as “Yellow” and “Sparks” that give you the feels all the way through. I enjoyed this quite a bit and works definitely listen to it again.
Overall Score: Strong 7
Ozzy’s bone chilling vocals and Iomi’s guitar playing creates a dark and dismal atmosphere that’s also filled with memorable and catchy riffs. This is definitely a must listen for anyone who enjoys metal and intuitive songwriting. There are so many hits on here from the band’s discography.
Overall Score: decent 8
Honestly, I was really impressed with the first half of the album (which was amazing with the songwriting and production, but the songs got progressively worse after every song and thought it had much more potential. Definitely disappointed because of how it could have turned out, but it did have some fire tracks.
Overall Score: Decent 5
Honestly, I personally just don’t get jazz. I understand that jazz is always different and is spontaneous and unpredictable, but to me it feels like most of the time it drags on for too long and just doesn’t do much for me. But as an album, I’ll give it props for being technical and out there. But honestly I would not play this again for myself unless I have a good reason to.
Overall Score: Strong 4
I really enjoyed the overall instrumentation of this project and vocal performances. It’s a well made project that is enjoyable all the way through. Though the songs are mostly about 10ish mins it can be lengthy.
Overall Score: Decent 6
CCR has quite a few songs on here I’d put on a playlist, and the rest are still full of quality songwriting and instrumentation. Wrote a song for Everyone and Bad Moon Rising are two that will be remembered best for me, though I feel the same song structure was used for the rest, though the entire album was enjoyable.
Overall Score: Light 7
Very average alternative band, not much to offer but songs that are kinda similar to each other. I didn’t receive much from the messages in the songs too. Definitely won’t be listening to it again.
