This album is having me dance at my desk. It takes me quite a few listens before I can understand songs beyond melody, and reading about the themes in what feels like a fun loving album makes me want to dig into this album more. Overall really enjoyed this!
beginning few songs haven't hooked me yet. first listen through I wasn't blown away, but it also wasn't what I was expecting to listen to. Now that I know what to expect, I'll give it another listen and evaluate it for what it is.
I do not like this album. I tend to like the genre "jazztronica" for working, but this isn't as upbeat as I normally like and also has too many lyrics for my taste.
I already knew the hits of this album which heavily will influence me.
As an album, it's very cohesive which is something I always appreciate. To me there weren't any standouts besides the songs I already know. Would want to give 3.75 so rounding to 4
Phenomenal opening song, phenomenal second song, and now Wonderwall lol. And now I get to read about all the drama. Crazy that millions of people weren't wrong about this one. I've always known Wonderwall, and only became aware of Oasis during their reunion tour and then understood how popular they were/are. And this album is exactly up my alley, I love it. This is why I have to do this projects like this; there's so much music that I should have heard already but haven't.
before I even start, I am so excited to listen to Joni Mitchell. I've a little bit been saving her for a "special" listening moment. But today is great and I should stop waiting.
Oh wow her voice is so soothing. So far the first two songs have been phenomenal.
Wow, so happy to have finally listened to this.
Catching up because I forgot to pause while I was on vacation. I am still so exhausted but also whatever, a second album.
The page said that they were influential to creating punk. So if in 1976 while The Ramones were making this would know that I would be listening to this at my corporate sell out job, they would be sick to their stomach. What does this mean for my music appreciation/learning when I am for sure not the demographic the artists were trying to speak to?
But also, how can you not like the vibe? This is such a fun album. Songs are fast both in tempo and in duration. But every song is starting to sound the same... 11 songs in and one finally feels a *little* different. Okay started great, but got tired of it really quickly.
maybe a choice to listen to this while in a buttoned up office setting, but I do not care. So far this album has an incredible vibe. I appreciate this album, but I don't think it's one I want to return to which makes rating hard. Sonically, I think there's so much interesting stuff going on and I think it's cohesive.
ah starting off with the song that scared me as a kid. very silly, but still brings an eeriness to my body when I hear it. I'm also exhausted today so that will for sure change my listening ability.
with how ubiquitous classic rock is, I'm used to this genre being "background music" rather than something I've explicitly chosen and therefore am struggling to listen with intention. And throughout listening today I continued not being able to hear songs beyond it being background music. The only songs that stood out happened to be the singles.
Thank goodness I read that this is a concept album. I won't be listening to this while I work because that makes no sense to me. I'll listen while I'm doing some yard work tonight and can actually focus.
The first song is... something. This album was not my vibe in any way shape or form. Too man, too British, too 2004 mentality.
Absolutely impeccable vibes - beautiful harmonies and stunning vocals.
Beautiful music and great album, but something just isn't clicking with me. Nothing I can put my finger on.
This album came out on my birthday! How fun. Also the trickle from left to right earbud in the "girls just wanna have fun" opening was so delightful. I also sang this song in high school.
So many wonderful 80s elements going on in this album. I think it's really fun, but also started to wear on me after a bit.
Oh goodness, I listened to this album while biking home sick from work and it transported me into a different dimension. Wasn't my favorite based on the vocals.
All of these songs feel the same… But also if any of them came on at a party, it's an impeccable vibe. The riffs are top notch. They knew how to do one thing and do it well.
I know this album like the back of my hand and it's perfection. She captured lightning in a bottle.
This is perfect work listening music. But at the same time, nothing grabbed me out from my work on first listen. The album faded into the background which I'm not sure if that's a negative or positive.
I just listened to a whole podcast about Boy George's decent into madness. Exciting to listen to one of his albums.
After listening through twice, I have no thoughts. Nothing stuck with me and I can't remember any of the songs outside of karma chameleon.
Fun, but nothing special to me
