The first time I heard it I thought I was mistaken, I was certain this was the one with Clint Eastwood on it, turns out that was the 5th song on the album. Turns out Damon Albarn just put the hits wherever he wanted. Makes sense, space out the good songs throughout the slop.

Going into this I tried to set the mood by having Rainy Mood playing in another tab to get me in the right frame of mind.
I feel I couldn't get the full effect unless I was in a suit and a trilby, with a cigar in one hand and some whisky in the other. If I had time to prepare I would have tried to do it.
I can't put this into words exactly but this sounds like the beta version of Graceland. Ever wonder if he was still alive he would be one of those guys that travel to places like North Korea to try and build bridges with music?

I didn't mean that in a perverted way, just that every song in this album could be used for the intro of a James Bond movie.

The rest of the album is George Michael doing repetitive ballads with the reverb cranked up as high as it can go.

No matter how good this album is I can't stop myself from imagining GH angrily writing songs while yelling about Lennon–McCartney snubbing his songs from the Beatles for so long. Things made out of spite always turn out to be the best things.
