1001 Albums Summary

5/10. Contains the usual well-known stuff, nothing new struck me. Not heavy enough to be on in the background à la Lion Records at Clapham Junction / Lavender Hill

Poor. It has ‘Family Affair’ and nothing else that stands out. Formulaic funk. Boring background music. ‘Spaced Cowboy’ is quirky cool, but that’s it.

Utter. UTTER. Bollocks.

Eminently skippable, little beyond the obvious tracks (three of them in a row) to recommend it. And I own it!!!

Shite. Sounds like something John Lee would have owned, and we all know what a complete wanker HE was.

Every track sounds the same. Reminds me of 1992, it’s that bad.

Bought it when it came out. And people think The Smiths are depressing!

Can’t stand his whiny voice, never got this band at all.

Nothing stands out past the 2 famous tracks (Imagine, Jealous Guy). I find his voice is just too reedy on his own, tried to like him but just can’t do it - and ai can remember where I was when I heard he’d died as well!

Gotta be in the mood for this - it’s one-paced, so wears out its welcome quickly if you want something lively.

Owned this since it came out, bought it in Selectadisc on Berwick St in Soho. Track 2 is an all-timer.

Easily in my Top 5 all-time Bands, this album manages to pull off the rare feat of being a) Awesome and b) not as good as ‘The Band’. ❤️
