I am just SO bored by the breathy singer songwriter vibe and now I will have to work to convince my algorithm I don’t want to be served more of it

I loved Illinois from the original list. I wouldn't say this is bad, but it sounds as if he's tired. And it's contagious.

It's done! I tried ( 3 times, thanks to the original list plus this one), but Sufjan Stevens is not for me. I understand who likes it, but I'd skip almost every song on this album if I weren't motivated to listen to all the albums on the list fully.

Quite dull. But pretty.

Carrie & Lowell is a bit too dull for me, never been my style for a whole album, can recognise the talent but it's just so sleepy and bores me. Can't give it more than a 2.

I like it better than the album included in the book but Sufjan still doesn't really do a whole lot for me.

Nope.

Stevens may be the most overrated musician of the last 30 years. His breathy delivery smears every track with a "I'm 13 and this is deep" vibes and every song is the same. He defo peaked with the song Chicago which, while great, is very repetitive lyric wise. But that track is on Illinois. Here, one his SEVENTH album, he just muddles along making the same song over and over. Its the feeling of the snooze alarm going off on a Monday over and over.

He sounds like he's singing with his eyes closed. How could anyone fail to be moved by this sentimental, softly-sung tosh?
