Violent Femmes
Violent FemmesAbsolutely fantastic. Gordon Gano, in his creepy Lou Reed meets Ted Bundy way, Delivers a delightfuly uncomfortable experience. I nearly had an out of body experience during the xylophone solo in Gone Daddy Gone.

What an absolutely fucking delightful album. I listened to it twice. Exuberant polyphony and phenomenal musicianship from start to finish. Fuck yes
One of the greatest collections of riffs known to man. I don’t have a bad word to say about this album. The highlight for me: Geezer Butler’s intrepid bass lines. This album does not give a fuck what you think about it. Too much reverb? No way, no such thing! Another tempo change? Sure, the more the merrier! Two guitar solos at the same time? Fuck it, why not?!
The filthy bass sound had me right From the start. I listened on iphone speakers, so the tinny vocals and guitar fuzz got a bit old by the end. It was also quite repetitive by the end. A good album though and will definitely be listening again soon
I’d never listened to this album in its entirety before but I will absolutely be revisiting it. Frequently. An eclectic mix featuring a spectacular rhythm section.
Arguably the better of the two Di’Anno albums and a reliable ‘go to’ album that will always deliver the goods. Running Free, Phantom of the Opera and Iron Maiden are still highlights in any Maiden set. N.B. Paul Di’Anno is just a bit of a twat
I enjoyed listening to this album a lot. It made me feel like everything is going To be ok. Kind of like a hug, but in Portuguese. Pairs well with peri peri chicken tenders and spicy rice
A chef-d'œuvre from the coolest motherfuckers on the planet. I nearly gave it a 5 but “Hey Ya”, like a steaming turd in a freshly mown lawn, ruined an otherwise immaculate hip hop album.
This album is all killer no filler. Every track is fucking huge. It’s a shame it’s so poorly produced. The drum sound is shit The bass sound is shit The guitar sound is shit Dave Mustaine sounds like a pirate (this is merely an observation, and is in no way a negative) Interestingly, the original Randy Burns mix is significantly better than what was ultimately released. It’s well worth a listen.
I had really high hopes for this album. 7 tracks in, I was feeling pretty good about it. There was some real funky shit happening. The tracks were unpredictable albeit a little repetitive. We heard from Sir Lucious. Then it got weird. I waited for the funk to return, but it never really did. It ended up being slightly disappointing, like a dropped ice cream

I struggle with Cypress Hill. I lost a few brain cells listening to this knuckle dragging caricature of a rap album. There’s a few consecutive tracks in the middle section of the album that are pretty good with some good beats, but on the whole it’s reasonably uninspired. B Real also sounds ridiculous

There’s nothing particularly wrong with it... I probably wouldn’t listen again. Unless I felt like listening to something really boring. Then I’d probably listen to it again. I actually gave up after track 9 and listened to Jazz Samba again instead. That was great.
A piece of music history, and the beginning of something out of this world. I often wonder how the fuck they ever got a record deal. What’s the opposite of easy listening? That’s what this is. It would have been unreal to watch this album being performed live, but the studio album is not really designed for human ears.
I’ve spent the last 2 days listening to IDLES, so I may have been a bit harsh on this one. It definitely was not the change of pace I was looking for today.
Real tight band, slightly irritating vocals. This being said, I was listening with a backdrop of annoying five year old, so I also didn’t take in a single lyric, but I’ll probably revisit this one. It might have made it to 4 stars if I’d been paying more attention.

A subtle and nuanced composition. Jolly good This is actually my least favorite Slayer album, it’s a high 3, but a 3 nonetheless.
A load of pretentious, avant-garde new wave bollocks. It was always going to happen, with a name like Brian Peter George St John le Baptiste de la Salle Eno. Fucks sake.
I’m consumed by angst
I think I get it now...
