Popular Reviews

The Wildest! by Louis Prima

I like this way more than I expected. It sounds like people having a great time. The harmony in the brass and vocals is really satisfying, and their voices are really cool individually.

Ray Of Light by Madonna

A little like OG Lana Del Rey. Cool electronica style.

Liege And Lief by Fairport Convention

Cool mix of folk style with more modern/electric instruments

Low-Life by New Order

I really like this one. Kind of like rock with 80s driving beats and synths.

Hms Fable by Shack

Reminds me a little of All The Roadrunning or REM. Their songs are really good at both hitting all of the satisfying resolutions while also moving in interesting unexpected directions.

Let's Get It On by Marvin Gaye
Jan 13 2021

Solid, but none of the songs really spoke to me

Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits
Jan 14 2021

Singing sometimes awkward, but great guitar parts

Goo by Sonic Youth
Jan 15 2021

Cool guitar timbre. Can't sing along, but still catchy. A bit like Metric x La Femme, with more disorder and noise.

To Pimp A Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar
Jan 16 2021

Has a feel somewhere between "in the zone and focused" and "walking around". Really cool mix of musical styles. Compelling parallel narratives of personal struggle and Black historical struggle.

Marcus Garvey by Burning Spear
Jan 17 2021

Good calm feel, but not compelling to me.

Appetite For Destruction by Guns N' Roses
Jan 18 2021

Cool guitar playing, but a bit aggressive for my taste, especially the lyrics

Vivid by Living Colour
Jan 19 2021

Metal/hard rock with clear singing. Some songs stand out, most others are solid

Liege And Lief by Fairport Convention
Jan 20 2021

Cool mix of folk style with more modern/electric instruments

Low-Life by New Order
Jan 21 2021

I really like this one. Kind of like rock with 80s driving beats and synths.

Gold by Ryan Adams
Jan 22 2021

The music is fine, he has a nice voice, and I can definitely see how it might have influenced others like Phoebe Bridgers. There's probably good stuff to learn from a closer look. But it doesn't really wow me and he's a bad person, so the balance is against it.

Funeral by Arcade Fire
Jan 23 2021

At first it was fine but didn't stand out. Listening again, though, I like it more.

The Slider by T. Rex
Jan 24 2021

Somewhat negative reaction. I don't really like his voice and don't feel like the songs are particularly catchy, despite some interesting backing.

Little Earthquakes by Tori Amos
Jan 25 2021

Feels like listening to a musical, but not in a good way. I'm not a fan of the mix of backing. There doesn't seem to be a smooth transition in songs, but lots of sudden shifts in volume and instrumentation that feel random.

The Wildest! by Louis Prima
Jan 26 2021

I like this way more than I expected. It sounds like people having a great time. The harmony in the brass and vocals is really satisfying, and their voices are really cool individually.

Rocks by Aerosmith
Jan 27 2021

Often satisfying guitar parts, but overall hit or miss.

Here's Little Richard by Little Richard
Jan 28 2021

Not all of the songs are big hits, but a lot of them are. Overall very strong, and he's an engaging singer.

Fuzzy by Grant Lee Buffalo
Jan 29 2021

The way he sings reminds me of Orville Peck a bit. The music has a cool tone, but nothing really attention grabbing for me.

The Gershwin Songbook by Ella Fitzgerald
Jan 31 2021

Very pleasant but not really my style. Has a relaxing by the fire kind of feel a lot of the time.

Beach Samba by Astrud Gilberto
Feb 01 2021

Calm and jazzy bossa nova, but nothing really stands out. Singing doesn't quite sound natural and comfortable.

Ray Of Light by Madonna
Feb 04 2021

A little like OG Lana Del Rey. Cool electronica style.

Fifth Dimension by The Byrds
Feb 05 2021

I really like the guitar tone and their use of vocal harmony. It's almost like a more rock-y Simon and Garfunckel.

Cloud Nine by The Temptations
Feb 06 2021

I like the kind of psychedelic instrumental arrangements. I think the vocals sometimes keep it from being a real favorite for me, but every other part is really good.

Alien Lanes by Guided By Voices
Feb 07 2021

A bit strange in that most of the songs are like 1-2 minutes long. Sound is a little like REM or Whitney, depending on the song. Some songs are musically interesting, but mostly not what I want to listen to casually .

Hms Fable by Shack
Feb 08 2021

Reminds me a little of All The Roadrunning or REM. Their songs are really good at both hitting all of the satisfying resolutions while also moving in interesting unexpected directions.

Disintegration by The Cure
Feb 09 2021

I like the music a lot, though his singing keeps it from being a top favorite.

Phaedra by Tangerine Dream
Feb 10 2021

Pretty cool early electronic music. Very ambient.

World Clique by Deee-Lite
Feb 11 2021

Fun dance music, but not my thing outside of that context.

Feb 12 2021

The 'big' songs from this album are a little more pop-like, but there are a lot of interesting trippy songs too.

Marquee Moon by Television
Feb 13 2021

I like their guitar lines a lot. They almost feel like they're inspired by 50's or surf rock sometimes.

Low by David Bowie
Feb 15 2021

Switches between psychedelic and manic.

Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath
Feb 16 2021

Guitar is kinda cool sometimes, but not my style overall.

It's Blitz! by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Feb 17 2021

Similar to Metric in the way her voice floats above the instruments with seemingly sparse midrange.
