1001 Albums Summary

Better than expected. Felt like the first of their genre (electronic indie) & appreciated it as such, but much of it felt uninspired - probably because they helped invent it.

CLASSIC FOR A REASON! Love this album.

Iconic album. Creative beats, lyrics, mood. Poet at heart.

Objectively a classic, but not my bag. Felt stuffy, although it originated as the opposite, I'm sure.

Main character music. This is for when you're starring in your own movie, experiencing all the waves of deep joy and sorrow, staring out a bus window while you reflect on all the big moments of your life.

I see how it's a classic - so many radio hits and must have been groundbreaking for its time. Especially coming from a more mature woman of color who was so on top of the trends. I can respect that, but too much treble for me!

Genre bending. Enjoyable beats.

Classic hard rock, sounds like it is the example of the genre.

Apple music categorizes this as pop punk and idk that I would have guessed that - but they are totally right. This album would fit right in with the Clueless soundtrack, but give it a smidge of Neutral Milk Hotel.

Peak dad music.

I have never heard the spoons played so earnestly. Peak of self indulgent folk. Feels a little misogynistic and self centered, too. Too close to Bob Dylan for comfort, but also close to Velvet Underground, which I enjoy. Altogether a little confusing. Highlight of album "Tonight Will be Fine"

I absolutely loved this. PERFECT chill party music. Loved the lyrics. Fantastic.

I was NOT expecting this. This music felt so personal, like reading someone's diary. They have a unique viewpoint of a trans life. His voice and style remind me of a mix between Nina Simone and Devendra Banhart. The instrumentals felt expansive and had a live-sounding quality. Beautiful. Unique.

Peak 90s, fun listening.
