Belter, I rinsed this when it first came out, hasn't got a bad song on it!! Great pop melodies
Enjoyed listening to this and thinking about what people would have been doing and how they would listen when this first came out. Couldn't really get into it musically, but enjoyed playing it through
First time listen, enjoyed. Can hear the influence this album probably had on 80s bands
Boring naff soft rock. Very bland addition to this list. Sounds like the band grew up listening to show tunes
I like this. Sounds like unashamed American confidence of the 80s. Reminded me of Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty. I enjoyed the instrumentals and harmonies on Down The Road.
70s rock overload, not into it today
Belter
Couple of good songs but nothing I thought was exciting or new
This was great, I've gone back and listened to albums I've missed. Good concentration music. Bit weird to hear the bloke groan and vocalise because he's so pumped playing the piano, but otherwise very listenable.
Love this album. My uncle gave me a burnt copy of this CD for my birthday when I was like 10/11 (2004/5). It complements the Mylo album. Nice break from 70s rock.
Snoozefest. Frank Sinatra obviously has bangers...where are they?? Why have the boffins chosen this dud album? Justify your approach to In The Wee Small Hours.
Love this. I think I got really into The Prodigy when they played at Big Day Out in 2009, and I would use the lineups for music festivals to find new music and download a stack of torrents. I also went down the rabbit hole of watching "epic" live crowd videos on Youtube of Prodigy concerts which got 14 year old me pretty fired up.
Damn, this is some serious sad boy music. Pictures of You kicked me in the guts, then I realised it's because a cover was used on a TAC ad about road fatalities with people holding up pictures of their dead family members. Great song but. This wasn't The Cure album I expected to see on this list. I also didn't realise their big songs were so spread out across albums and a long period of time, I thought they were all concentrated around The Head On The Door.
If I had to pick one genre of music to listen to for the rest of my life it would be something like this. I could rant about the under-representation of Latin music on this list compared 70s rock but we're only 2.8% of the way in so happy to give the benefit of the doubt!!

Are B-52s thought of as a bit of a gimmick / daggy group? When their main songs are so famous, and are about rock lobsters etc, probably hard to avoid. But this album is a great listen, and Rock Lobster is actually a banger that holds up. They describe themselves on their own website as "The World's Greatest Party Band"...happy to run with that.
Loved it. I really want to go to Senegal in the meantime I'll listen to big Youssou.
I skipped through this. Didn't enjoy the synth horn sounds
I got a vinyl player for my 18th bday from my parents with this record. Stars for nostalgia. Other than Superstition this album doesn't do heaps for me
Pretty easy to get 5 stars out of me, Spanish lyrics and Latin riddimmmms. Love it. Favourite song was the first track El Cumbanchero
Not bad, nice to have on in the background on the train to work. The whimsical 60s rock with horn and string sections is interesting but that's not my bag, baby. Favourite track was the first one on the album, bit dull after that.
Not to judge a book by its cover but just reading the Wikipedia extract I feel like I'm going to really not like this.... Yeah not keen this morning.
Love this album. Down to the Waterline and Sultans of Swing fav songs
First time listening to this album - didn't love the falsetto, thought it was overused.
Van Morrison is a genius, I listened to so much Van Morrison in 2020. Me and dad got a photo outside his house in Belfast on a family holiday lol. Favourite song on this one probably And It Stoned Me
