1001 Albums Summary

This was my first album in this project. Definitely something I would never have thought of for myself. Was nice to read the glowing, detailed and poignant reasons that others are so taken with the work and the artist. Was too raw for me.

Smooooooth

Funny how this album which represented extreme hard rock when I was a child is now practically easy listening.

If I had heard this during my formative years, it would have been a favorite. Glad I finally learned of its existence.

Nostalgia

Sounds like Bruce Springsteen to my uneducated ear. That's a good thing.

Too rocky. Weird voices that aren't doing it for me at this time. Maybe the weirdness would become charming with further listening. However, no further listening is planned.

Fun piece of history

Was meh before I read the reviews. After they told me what to listen for, it was much better.

Again the reviews help prepare me for what I'm listening to. Psychedelic is a key word. The first track is exceptional and is why I'll probably give the album 4 stars.

Cool to hear the whole album, not just the ultra-famous songs.

Really not for me. Probably never will be. I really messed up giving Kanye West three stars that one time. Now it makes me like inflating other people's ratings. But if I had never seen the Kanye Album, I would probably give this one three stars. So I will.

The rocking-est part is offputting. But some of the singing sounded Bowie-esque.

I understand all the Starbucks references in the reviews, accompanied by 2 star ratings. I also understand all the 5 star ratings. I'm giving her 5 stars for doing something this good at age 22.

Wondering how different this would have been in the world in 1995. Different in my world.

Voice and acoustics are very 1960's protest-y.
