New Wave

I didn't hate that nearly as much as I thought I was going to. Eclectic and musical enough to be intriguing throughout and not get boring.
How can you not give this five stars? Some absolute belters on there, and it culminates in the iconic Someone Like You.
A few very strong tracks, but overall it felt like a slog to get through it.
I'm sure there's a time and place for Sigur Ros, and I have enjoyed their music at times, but after a while it just blurs into one long Icelandic whinge and uber-effected guitars.
I enjoyed this more than I expected. While I've been an Elton fan for a long time, I've always just bounced around the classics and never taken a deeper dive into any albums other than Goodbhe Yellow brick road. This starts off with a personal favourite, tiny dancer, and maintains a good tempo and pop-hooks well into the album. 9 whole minutes of the title track didn't do much for me, and a few tracks thereafter seemed a bit self-servibf, but otherwise Elton's growling rock and roll vocals and aggressive piano made for a decent listen. 3 stars because as good as it was I likely won't listen again.
Great listening. Lots of layers give each track a rich, full sound. So much better listening to a full bob Marley album than all the singles.
Deserves 5 stars for shine on yourl crazy diamond and wish you were here alone. Tbh tracks like have a cigar don't do much for me. But if I gave Adele 5, I've got to give this 5.

Some modern classics, and a very listenable-to album, but a few too many background tracks to achieve that extra star.
So much talent, and a well-produced bluesy rock and roll album. Just not altogether something that tickles my fancy.
It's easy to forget how big this album was when it came out. And I think we've all heard some of these tracks so much (Praise You, The Rockafella Skank) that we take them for granted. But this was big and I feel it changed a lot in terms of what sort of music was popular in the UK. At the time of its release the UK album charts included Bewitched, Phil Collins, The Corrs, Ladysmith Blackmambazo, The Beautiful South, Cliff Richard and Boyzone - I shit you not.
I love Dylan, but not this side of him.
A really decent pop album...just not something I would ever put back on myself.
It would be a 4/5 if the whole album continued as strongly as it starts, but towards the end it feels a bit same-y.
I'd forgotten how good this album is. Just hit after hit. And even the filler is excellent.
