Frank by Amy Winehouse

A laborious record overall. The production is clean, dense and has just about all the qualities needed to make an \"easy listening\" album. However, the core problem is that it is difficult to get through because of the whingy, cursive, and nasal vocal performances. The project length also does not help matters because there is not enough lyrical variety to warrant an hour's runtime. The songs end up blurring into one monotonous moan. Score: 29/100

The Suburbs by Arcade Fire
Jun 21 2023

The production for this project is beautifully dense and clean. The musicianship is also well-presented. The songwriting is great but needs more idiosyncratic moments at times. The cohesiveness of this project is a double-edged sword because it produces a body of work rather than a collection of tracks, but sadly they end up blending into one another too much overall. Score: 72/100

Beautiful Freak by Eels

Enjoyable but relatively innocuous overall. There are a couple of cuts with replay value here, but it's not worth the time of a complete listen in the near future. Only a little sells itself, so I struggle to understand its inclusion on this list. Score: 52/100

A Love Supreme by John Coltrane
Feb 24 2024

On the one hand, I can appreciate the musicianship, but on the other hand, there is so much going on musically that it is difficult to find a thread to grip you. Like many pure jazz records, it's too technical for its own good. It's just a series of experiments thrown together. That's all good if that floats one's boat, but unfortunately, it doesn't float mine.

OK. It wasn't bad per say I just don't know if it belongs here.
