I gave it a go, didn’t leave much of an impression besides the air of coolness that comes with listening to French language stuff (I don’t speak French)
This is long and feels long. Still the very good tracks are very very good (Midnight City / Waut). Rest are no comparison.
Like a tech demo that he’ll come back to later to add the sizzle
I’m enjoying that very ‘90s’ sound that is hard to describe
It’s the way the tune the guitars or what pedals they use or something completely different maybe. It’s like a lost technique. Perhaps recording equipment has advanced to far to ever be able to replicate it. Probably the original stuff is buried in some liminal space
I know the are called Heart, have the soft focus picture as the cover and have a love heart into parts of it…but I was still expecting it to be heavier. I’m sure they have heavier songs elsewhere otherwise I’ve got them mixed right up with someone else.
The first four track were pretty dull and drippy but then Cool, Kind and Lemon Eyes must be my brainwashing activator words because it was like a different much more interesting varied surprising album from that.
Not sure how to rate it yet
Not sure whether I should go back and give those first four a second chance or just leave it a a weird quirk

I think I complained about a Kanye album by saying that his vocal track was completed disconnected to the music itself…yet I really this for that exact reason, like the music was just there to try contain him and distract him occasionally before he blasts off into another flow. I guess I just don’t like Ye.
Was only sparsely aware of Aesop Rocks so this was great as a proper introduction. 4 stars.
Almost certainly the style at the time but everything here sounds like it has so much effects and sweetening applied that it sounds very artificial
Saying that, the underlying sway along beats are decent
Emo is a genre that I’ve never got on with. Occasionally teases being a bit heavy and then the vocals start and I immediately lose interest.

First track is a great opener lulling you into thinking it’s just gonna be bog standard pop album then all the screening starts.
Hadn’t listened to her before and probably never would but this was enjoyable, maybe I’ll listen to her others. 3.5 rounded up
This album feels so insincere that if their wiki origin story was ‘some guys founded a band solely to score chicks’ I’d believe them.
Easily feels like they should have been the band playing house parties in the American Pie cinematic universe.
I’m got limited knowledge of this as a genre but I’m pretty sure every song is the same format, slow traditional start before the breakdown and the viola playing fast as fuck for it. Repeat for three choruses, then next track.
I think Interpol are a band I always assumed I’d listen to and like but I never actually have so I’m looked forward to this.
Is this one of the world most important 1001 albums? No
Can I understand why people would put this forward? Yes
Was this a great listen that I’ll revisits and will explore their other work? Absolutely

This was a bit confusing, I can’t really remember or pinpoint what genre it was. Found myself nodding along at times then other times thinking it had starting playing random
A cool concept
I found the blend on YouTube and listened to it and it sounded like…a flaming lips album…it was actually more interesting to listen to the individual parts as the ‘missing’ stuff made each song more gimmicky and unique
This does not pass the Tremors town test.
It’s inoffensive enough that it feels harsh to give it 1 star but it’s probably the least interesting one we’ve had
This very much succeeds in the characters in American Pie would listen to this test. Which isn’t really a good thing. Bland butt rock.
Not Nineteen Forever is a great track, feels like I’ve heard that on every British coming of age show on Telly.
I can’t shake Arctic Monkeys when I listen to the rest of their stuff, which isn’t a bad thing.
I kind of had Pulp down as a gimmick band with a few hits until quite recently when it turns out they have quite a large back catalogue of solid stuff.
This had some songs on it I had no idea were them which is bizarre given his voice is so distinctive. All round really well made stuff.

Never bothered with these guys as I was falling out with metal when they were coming up.
Not upset with my decision as it feels very ‘by committee’, throwing loads of things at the wall at once to make something not quite anything.
I’ve been listening to Trees recently having found a new appreciation for acid folk so this is a nice discovery
(I reckon if this had come up two months earlier I wouldn’t have given it a chance)

My previous experience with DT is pretty much limited to one song, Glass Prison, which I heard before I realised songs were allowed to be longer than 5 minutes and loved it. I tried one other song and it was nothing like it so I just fixated on the one I liked and never listened to any more.
Would this album be like Glass Prison, or would it be like that other one I’ve forgotten

Occasionally good instrumental bits but too long and so overblown that it’s cycles past parody back into sincerity all the back into parody again.
