Street Signs
OzomatliThis is just absolutely not my thing.
This is just absolutely not my thing.
I had honestly never listened to this. First song was epic. Great drumming, bass, and classic Geddy Lee falsetto. A lot of mixed 70s rock sounds aside from that that don't date well in my opinion. I can see why this was super influential, but probably not an album I'll play on repeat.
Very fun album. Peak Parliament.
Classic. Forgot how great Biggy’s rhymes and flow were. And Juicy is still a banger.
Listened to the Color and the Shape a ton, but didn't know this album beyond the hits. Man, it seriously rocks. Good stuff.
One of my favorites. For me, this was one of those strange albums where you're not sure if you're really into it on first listen beyond a handful of tracks, but the more you listen, the more you grow to love the whole thing, and the weirder parts the most.
Pretty fun album, although with definitely a few misses, and some of the sounds don’t age quite as well. I actually expected to like this more as a fan of a ton of music that is derivative of these guys, but it’s still solid.
I didn't find this album particularly interesting.
This was fun. Not as much my style, but I could see why it was popular.
I don't know that this album makes me feel like I've been missing something by not listening to Nick Cave all these years. I don't find the lyrics particularly interesting, don't particularly enjoy his voice, nor do i find the music particularly creative. Not sure why this wound up being "important."
This is a real masterpiece. Incredibly creative compositions that stand the test of time.
Not my cup of tea, but I for folks in that corner of the music world, I get it.
This is a fine album, with some fun instrumentation and a few interesting compositions, though not necessarily my favorite of the 1960s folk rock sounds.
There's a lot of great/fun tracks on this album, though like most VU albums, I find it a little inconsistent (probably the drugs). Still, great band, and an album with many sounds that i can hear reverberating in the sounds of many modern bands I love.
This takes me back. One I listened to a lot in the 90s. Such an interesting different sound for Nirvana, and one that made a big impression on me. One of the best in the MTV Unplugged series. Still excellent.
This was an incredible, beautiful album. Definitely one of the best songwriters of all time.
One of my favorite albums of all time. It's absolutely perfect, with no skippable tracks, and such a diversity of sounds and song structures. I listened again for the hundredth time just now because it appeared on this list, and still loved every bit.
Great album. Incredible talent on display, and fun to hear how rowdy a jazz music festival crowd could be in 1956. Will definitely listen again.
Another great, classic album. Just as fun now as it was 19 years ago.
This was my favorite Beatles album as a child, and listening to it again, it's still incredible.
Very enjoyable, well put together album, from one of the greatest artists of all time. Good one to listen through multiple times.
This album is great. Peter Gabriel was ahead of his time, and while I didn't care for his era leading Genesis (or Phil Collins' for that matter), his solo career is much more interesting, and this was a solid one.
I bought this album on midnight the day it came out. It wasn’t my favorite Radiohead album, but it has stood the test of time as an excellent example of the creativity and incredible songwriting of this band at their peak.
I think this probably had a big influence a lot of music I like, and yet the sound of this album just doesn’t really do it for me.
The B-52s are musically actually a very solid band…right up until any time Fred Schneider opens his mouth, at which point it becomes unlistenable.
Excellent songwriting, and of course a series of classic hits everyone recognizes. Great album.
Honestly, this album did not age well. The synthesizers sound like a parody of themselves, with effects reminiscent of my 1990s childhood Casio's demo song. Many of the lyrics are cheesy beyond redemption, and the ballads are straight up unlistenable. And after relistening to the masterpiece that is Thriller, which truly stands the test of time, it's even worse. If it weren't for some classic hits, I'd rate this a little lower.
Not a bad album, but not particularly interesting either, to be honest.
I actually enjoyed this quite a bit more than I thought I would. Feels like the soundtrack to an era past in a different world, and there's something very relaxing about it.
I really enjoyed this. Just two songs and a very enjoyable experience.
I had never heard this album before, despite loving Harvest since I was a teenager. This is a great album, and the tragic context adds weight throughout. One I will listen to again.
I just don't find Springsteen's musical compositions interesting for whatever reason. It's otherwise a fine album with (obviously) plenty of hits and I can see it's influence on tons of acts that followed.
I'm a huge fan of house and techno, but this brand of 90s electronica just doesn't do it for me for some reason.
This album reminds me of riding around very stoned in the back of my friend's station wagon in high school. there are some cool tracks, but the juvenile humor and stupid hospital interludes always irked me back then, and they still do.
Not a bad album, with pretty strong songwriting. If I were in the mood for this brand of 70s folk rock, this would be a strong entry, though it's not entirely my style.
Fun album with some true classics.
Was not expecting to enjoy this, but surprisingly fun. Did not realize they basically invented having two lead guitarists, and you can really hear that come through in their live set here.
I loved this album when it came out. Going back to it, it’s still a lot of fun, and has a sound that has reverberated throughout the indie music world in the years since.
There's a lot of fun sounds on this album, but I've just never been able to get into their sound for whatever reason. A little too poppy, and without any songs that really stand out to me.
I really want to love the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, but have never been able to really find any of their albums truly interesting. There's some fun, poppy riffs in there, and Karen O is a badass, but on listening again, it still just doesn't excite me.
This is a very creative album. Way outside the box, but definitely some strong songwriting and production value.
I've never quite gotten PJ Harvey. She is clearly very talented and creative. This is a very different album, and I appreciate what it's going for even if it's not quite for me.
I somehow missed Hookworms entirely, but this is a great album! I am now going back through their catalogue - they’ve got a great sound.
This is a great album. The Pretenders were an exceptionally talented band, and this is a fun one.
This is fun music that really is it's own vibe. It's not really my style, but I can appreciate it.
This is fun, but not particularly groundbreaking.
I have fond memories of my mom loudly playing Luck of the Draw on road trips, but we never really listened to this one. Honestly, this has a lot of those bad 80s sounds that don't hold up well over time. Not my cup of tea.
This is just absolutely not my thing.
Sort of generic 70's rock. Didn't find it particularly interesting.
I listened to a lot of Pink Moon and Five Leaves Left in my youth, but forgot about this one. Awesome album. Beautiful and creative songwriting. What a genius.
