1001 Albums Summary

The album takes a bit of time to get going, but the mixing is really excellent. I'm not sure if it's because I'm listening to a remaster. Some of the songs drag, but there's also so many jams! I can see why it's a classic.

He's not a very good singer is he

I know it's a cliche that "I'll be watching you" is creepy, but listening now, it is pretty creepy. Loved loved Synchronicity II, and could definitely see myself playing this again, albeit in a background situation.

Oh shit do I love Neil Young? That was amazing.

Thought I'd like it better. The hits are fine, and I liked Communication Breakdown

It sounded influential, but a little too much babadeeboo for me.

Frick I thought I wasn't going to like this, but this first song is a jam Yeah this was fun. Probably wouldn't play it for active listening, but I bet these would be fun songs to sample.

What a strange mix of like Foo Fighters, Sex Pistols, MCR, Rage against the Machine, very weird. And before a lot of those bands did their thing. I liked it

It's pop-y, it's dance-y, it's INCREDIBLY millennial. But it's just very very good. Great singles, cohesive as an album, edge-y without being harsh. Iconic.

Dance Dance Dance was the star. It's very good, but I think they have more potential than they displayed here.

A very slow start, the first three songs were very forgettable. But the final 2/3 of the album was excellent! Lots of good singles. Not as cohesive as On the Beach.

The first song is good enough to give this 4 songs. Is it nerdy? Sure, but these nerds were having fun.

There were so many good songs on this album! I'd rate it higher if there was more variety, but that might be missing the point..

A lot of these songs were in commercials growing up.

Did everyone have a favorite Beastie Boy in the 90's? The main Boy's voice is iconic as hell. I didn't like the album as much as I thought, but I'm way more likely to throw this one on casually than some others in the 1001

Morrissey is right about everything and I'm glad he's never owned a cell phone. This review doesn't reflect my opinions on his politics.

She's a very good singer. A few iconic songs. I wasn't into it. I wish I had something funnier to say.

This was incredible! Almost didn't make 5 stars, because I have no idea what situation I'd play this in. But it was so good!

This guy seems to really enjoy making songs and music.

I thought Sufjan Stevens was Cat Stevens' first name change and was disappointed

As an 11year old, I was very annoyed that some of these songs played non stop from my sister's room. Now, I thought it was really good!

Loved this as a younger man! I thought I'd like it as much as a slightly less younger man.

I like his sweet baby voice, a few weird lyrics though.. James don't be weird

A little Bowie, and sounds so modern for 1995! 4 -> 5 because of I Spy, that song was great.

Like, this isn't a bad album, I tapped my foot, but it just felt like McDonald's during Restaurant Week
